View Full Version : Uncle B – Synchronicity and a poignant moment

I want to share with you all a very touching moment that occurred yesterday.

It was twelve months ago this week that I first met Uncle B and we commenced, what turned out to be a life changing experience for me, that is the whole concept and experience of motorcycle riding. The gaining of riding experience and time spent in review rides with Uncle B was tragically cut short. However as most of you who know me, his legacy remains, and I continue to promulgate the “Where Did You Ride and What Did You Practice” post each week in the Wannabe and Newbie forum and copy the selections across to the Newbie Update Blogg.

“Excuse me. Are you BuckBuck?” I was at the local shopping centre when this lady approached me.

“Yes” I replied not immediately recognizing the lady.

“I’m Debbie.” I stood still and looked at her and immediately thought ah a kiwibiker that recognizes the VStrom parked up at the kerb.

The penny didn’t drop and I like a real idiot asked. “What’s your handle on kiwibiker?”

“I’m Debbie, Bruces wife.” And with that we embraced each other and I felt an amazing grace, let alone feeling totally embarrassed for not recognizing this fine looking and cheerful lady.

It has not been since Bruce’s funeral that I last saw Debbie, and it was not only during the service but also afterwards escorting the cortege to Akatarawa with Debbie right there in my rear view mirror………….Twelve months this week, and out of the blue for Debbie and I to meet at the local shopping centre.

We spoke cheerfully and she remarked how she reads the Kiwibiker posts. She looked at the VStrom and yes you guessed it remarked, “Bruce would really like to have a ride on that bike, I love the colour.’

I am sure that the chance meeting this week, the moment is not lost on either of us.

A special salutation

Very very cool... and I'll bet he's on board with her every step of the way. Hope her pegs get put so he's comfy...

I understand he was a bloody awesome man. Shame I never got to meet him in person. Must make a point of visiting him when I'm down that way.

edit - Debbie's a welcome stranger at my house anytime too... go figure.
