IF I was going to download for free which of course I wouldn't I would use eMule ver 4.7c. A good russian (honest straight up) site for very cheap approx 12c per song stuff is www.moremp3.com .

<hints id="hah_hints"></hints>Well that's a bit silly. Is there something wrong with your connection? No point in buying something if you never get it to your computer so you can listen to it @_@

I went through the motions of downloading mp3s through a russian site. Looked good stated it needed to charge $10 or something to your credit card, thats ok was going to spend that anyway. got through the checkout to the final page to add card details only to find that the total charged to the card was $1500 US. No way to alter the amount, stuff this I thought no card details to you lot. (the debit plus cards from westpack and ANZ next year will be a much safer way to go). With my nieche market music that I enjoy its not always easy to find. A certain computer that I have access to sometimes, has limewire on it, useful to listening to groups that may be what I like that have been recommended in different magazine articles.

Its amazing what one finds on Trademe..... I could not find any albums by Virgin Black (classical/metalgoth) anywhere except online stores that had a lead time of 12 weeks:shutup: Trademe had the latest release listed and now its mine.

I have also found YouTube to be a wealth of music clips even my favorite bands from the 80s I found on there. Just need one of those mp3 players that record in mp3 format from any source.....

After Audio Galaxy got shafted I moved to Soulseek.
6000 downloads later I'm a contented listener......

I mainly listen to Independent music now... most is free on the OMD site from the artist or they are selling it for a couple of bucks a song. (Well they have to put food on the table somehow). $90% of the what you pay goes to the artist, not like the 10-20% of a signed artist to a major label like sony etc

Actually any you musicans out there can record and put your music up to share as well... you will be suprised on the number of listens you get with a little bit of promoting  (well it suprises me and the comments I get)

What are some good DC++ hubs these days?

I use Emule (Morph XT mod) & µTorrent for my leeching. I used to use DC++ as well when Orcon ran an NZ hub, and NZ traffic didnt count towards your datacap, but that was years ago.

I also use PeerGuardian 2 & blocklist.org for protection, and Netlimiter to throttle my uploads to a reasonable speed whilst tricking the p2p clients into not throttling me internally.

If you're just looking for a common MP3 then whack this into Google. You would be suprised how many websites have audio files laying around.

Someone made a site with a search button to do it rather than doing it by hand

What's the difference between Emule and the Morph XT mod? I've been using regular Emule for a while, but it doesn't always seem to work...

In short its alot more configurable than the base client, and allows a hell of alot more advanced tuning, powersharing for releases etc.

heaps of Music, Movies, Games, TV series, etc at http://www.bittorrent.am/

Lucky for me I have the ihug plan where if you use your cap they just cut back the speed to 64kbps but at no extra cost..... :D

Lol me too -- surprising how often I hit my 20GB cap.

aMule/eMule is the goods. I don't listen to normal music, and the eDonkey 2000 network (what aMule and eMule run on) has a hell of a lot of rare jazz and rare anything, really; mostly excellent quality too (often lossless, no shitty 128kbps MP3s here!) Huge variety, if you can't find it on another network chances are it'll be on aMule, but speeds are pretty slow. Also it rigorously reinforces uploading (at least on the thing you're currently downloading), so if you're a leech there's no need to apply.
