Most of you that know me (or at least 'know' me on here) will quite rightly perceive me to be pretty relaxed about most things and fairly flippant at the best of times. Sure I do make the odd mature post but for the most part, I like to be fairly relaxed. The following rambles a bit but bear with me....
I got my license when I was 15 (a few moons ago now) back when you could do all your licenses in a day - I did my car and bike license within 15 minutes of each other. So when I changed my old book license over to a card one somehow my bike license disappeared and I found out I'd have to resit the whole thing! So last year I decided to go through the whole thing again at my own pace (I'd ridden for years - no big deal) I thought.
I had an accident back in Feb and didn't get busted then either, Oh no that wasn't what changed. I'd been working through the insurance claim and all the associated shit. My boss was helping me out with stuff and it was him that changed my attitude. I didn't care if I wasn't licensed. It made no difference to me - I was a careful rider (*Tui*) The thing that changed for me was when he asked me if I had my license - I was honest with him and told him no. I offended him.. really offended him. A person I really respect. He was loud and angry but I done him wrong. Big deal? Not to me. This person is not just a boss. He's a mentor, a leader and a friend.
So I haven't ridden since then (my bike at least - RF900) for 2 1/2 months - self imposed - I made a promise... until today. I went and borrowed a 250 Marauder from WMCC and sat my full - AND PASSED!! Normally not too big a deal - but to me it means a lot. Thanks to those here who've helped with a couple of "Growing up" things I needed a hand with over the last couple of months.. Thanks. And now I'm having a beer...
(O and I really really liked the SV1000 that Pete let me ride as a treat!!)

Congratulations big guy, really happy to hear this news.
It is nice being legal again eh, similar thing happened to me, I fought it with LTSA but in the end gave in and did it from scratch. Frustrating but worthwhile, it felt just as good the second time too.
Enjoy the beer and you can count on another one next time we catch up.

Thanks for all your kind comments.
It's funny - what is a small thing to others can mean so much. I got a call last night from my boss. To say I was surprised would be putting it mildly. He wanted to know how it went and when I told him, he said he was proud of me! I've never had that from a boss. I didn't leap around or whoop and holler, I just said "Thanks." It was very cool.
Small things eh?

I could hardly believe it when you told me about them not carrying your bike licence over last weekend, how much of a blunder is that? Anyway, great to hear you've taken it on the chin and got yourself squared away again. Good job mate, now go take that RF900 for a well earned stretch. :niceone:
I'd give you bling, but I've given out too much in the last 24 hours :(

Good on ya Col, you're all grown up now with a real licence.
So you mean to say when you followed me around Western Lake Road back to Featherston that time I didn't know I was risking my life with an unlicensed rider.
See you on the road again soon and at a lunch (don't think I'll be making the one this week as I'm off to Oz again).
