Answers according to Toaster:

Well, you don't. Just turn up dude and enjoy the ride in KB.

Never heard of the band. Bring back the Eagles.
Cold beer on a hot summers day with the BBQ fired up.
Is there any reason to go past 140km when it means bye bye licence... or your life?

p.s. Posting in KB on a nice fine riding day is illegal and incurs a fine of 12 cold beers.

Yes, my pants are so smart they hold a degree in smartness from the university of life, an A-bursary the school of hard knocks and a certificate from the kindergarten of getting the shit kicked out of me.

(Actually, I have misplaced my sarcasm pills... )

I agree to the TS!!

And to the wine.

But the speed thing? To reverse a common saying "You takes your choice and you pays your money"

So.... "How rich do you feel punk?" (Sorry Clint!)

Only ever sped when it justfied 'really urgent' urgent duty driving.... and always by the book :innocent: In both cases the end justified the means. :innocent:

In A New York Minute - That Man Deserves A Beer.

I'm pretty sure that's not an Eagles song. Don Henley brought that one out as a solo effort, although the Eagles did do in in their Hell Freezes Over tour.

I was brought up listening to the Eagles, Beatles, Seals and Croft, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, etc. You'd probably like all that stuff Guy!

Oh and Conquiztador - welcome to KB! Disturbed are pretty good but not the best.

There is a place for 150km/hr - and very rarely is it on the public road. there are a few exceptions but they're getting harder and harder to justify the older I get.

And there's only one truly exceptional drink - and it comes from the Isle of Islay.

3- Is there any reason to go past 150K?

No reason at all, but humans being what we are, will, and do many unreasonable things. Some we get away with, others bite us in the arse.
I still believe we should way up the risks/affect it has on others, and hopefully come to a mature decision in most if not all cases.
Sadly, not every one can comprehend what common sense is. Such is life.

If you have to ask you're probably not there yet. Hell, I've been riding since 1982, am I still a newbie? Still got a lot to learn and having fun doing it. Seriously though, if you feel confident on the bike and can get yourself out of strife you've probably passed from newbie (until you scare yourself silly on a patch of oil and realise how cocky you've become). My grandfather used to say you can't ride a horse until you've come off once or twice. Maybe the same applies for us bikers?

1. - Who? (I'm probably too old).
2. - Coke (the liquid kind - not much of a drinker)
3. - The sheer exhilaration of speed. Did 195 once on a very straight, open stretch of road just to see what the XJ600 would do (came straight down again before the road ran out). BMW318i tops out at about this while the 325 beside you keeps on trucking (gotta love those Swiss motorways). Best kept for the track though these days in NZ - you're libel to lose the bike as well as your licence.

A newbie implies - being new.

Wikipedia Says:

"Newbie" can be used as an endearing term to identify newcomers to a game, place, or organization. The variant spellings of "newbie" are also used, especially in online games, as a catch-all insult regardless of the recipient's actual skill or experience. Someone who acts like a "newbie," but isn't one would be referred to as one of the variant spellings.

Doctor Cox in the TV show Scrubs continuously refers to his protége John Dorian (J.D.) as "Newbie" as a way of breaking his spirits and constantly reminding him who's in charge (even when J.D. continues working at the hospital for over 5 years).

----------------------

When something becomes familiar then it is no longer new. But in motorcycle terms, it relates more to the level of ability, which doesnt really fit with the term "newbie" in my view.

There is always someone better than you, and always someone worse. The only benchmark for comparison being a complete lack of any knowledge motorcycle related.

Yeah, I certainly felt like a newbie after 13 years of not riding.

A bit harder than I'd usually listen to be not bad all the same. Certainly got me caught in the rythm. Pink floyd is about as far as I normally go in that direction.

When you learn which button to press when you give rep! :nono:
You repped me a few days back about a post I made on removing a crash helmet from an injured biker. Made some respectful comment agreeing with my brilliant post and then pressed the wrong button. Result ... my first ever red rep! Arghhh! :crybaby: It's OK. I'm not really that anal about rep (you lady's front bum)
