How about asking what else is on where & when to find any clashes.

Oh woe is me....any w/e 'they' pick will not be suitable for me......
Just announce one and the place...the crowds will come (less those that can't):dodge:

I agree with MSTRS, there will always be people who cant make it...
Just make the arrangements, let everyone know and voila!

One thing you will never get around here, Col, is consensus. Book a weekend and people who are able to come will come. You'll never find a weekend that has universal appeal, so stop looking. Just avoid Easter and all should be well.

18th June 2007, 13:35
And as long as the Golden shears does not fall on any March weekend
I haven't voted cos i dont mind what weekend (no kids)
but suggestion:
Easter weekend is Friday 21 March -> Monday 24 March so i'm thinking perhaps remove that as an option?
Colapop - how about chucking the Easter dates in your 1st post so peeps can see it before they vote?
bring on the party:rockon:

18th June 2007, 13:50
Gahh I was going to start a poll honest Col! I was just trying to figure out when easter and the Hill Climb is in March next year. And I have no idea when the golden shears is on.
Hmm I am thinking that the 15th and 16th of March are a goer for the weekend. As Mom said in the other thread... pm everyone who might not know about this gathering.

Yep... find out when the public hols are and plan around them to allow us to find a weekend when people aren'tbooking out accommodation etc. Maybe give us better chances of all staying in the same (or close by) digs.
Lissa
18th June 2007, 19:22
1st Weekend of March is the Martinborough Fair.. lots and lots of crazy welly cagers to advoid.
21-24th in March is Easter.... according to yod.
Accommodation I am looking at will be able to have everyone staying at the same place... makes it more fun that way.

I didn't come up with dates only because I was being lazy! And I don't have a handle on what dates other events are on...
The organising committee (it appears to be me & Lissa - with some help from 'others) are working on a few things and dates is one that the majority will speak on... hopefully...

I will however turn up and give you both a hug and, and, I don't know, I'm sure you can think of something I can do. Just remember that you won't be able to please everyone, so just do what pleases you!!

Would love to do the bike test ride/gear expo we had a few months ago again. But that could probably be it's own event.

That could well happen though it is a long way to ask them to bring the bikes. There will be another and bike show later this year with more bikes, hopefully more gear, and more people.

As far as it goes, I guess if we get a huge turnout we can ask if we can also use the living area of the hostel as sleeping quarters too?
Can you find out if they do linen/or provide blankets, pillows etc, just trying to ensure that I have plenty of room in the trusty pack for my creature comforts you understand  , sleeping bags take up sooo much room.......LOL

I see the racing dates are out for next yr
http://www.mnz.co.nz/news2.aspx?SectionID=29&ArticleID=10486
copied from the above link ..
These are the dates for the NZ Road Race Championship, for the South Island:
January 12 & 13 Rupauna – including the NZ Grand Prix
January 19 & 20 Levels
January 26 & 27 Teretonga
The North Island dates have been set, however there are two options for Manfeild, due to waiting for confirmation of the World Superbike Race in Australia:
23 & 24 February
Or
01 & 02 March Manfeild
08 & 09 March Pukekohe
We appreciate that riders want the North Island dates to be back to back and are working to ensure this outcome, however there are circumstances that may not make this possible.
Confirmed dates will be updated on this website as soon as possible.

Ok I am there! When is the question, I have just started at a real job where I have to ask for time off, best to give huge notice of pending time off methinks
As has been said before, cant please everyone, and the reality is that not everyone will be able/want to come, but I want to *sigh*

Just a note to all - this event has NOT slipped off the radar. There is a lot of organisation being done surrounding this event and some the details are taking a bit to work out. We (the organisers..?) are trying to ensure that this is something that will be an enjoyable experience, so we are trying to make arrangements that give people some options.
Yup - it's still a goer and an announcement will be made shortly!

As you know Col, my vote is to perhaps combine the KB gathering with the Cliff Hanger Hill Climb 'party'.
15/16th March 2008 at Gary McPhee's rural property 500m away from the hillclimb road.
This years 'hill climb party' went well - the band stopped at midnight but people carried on listening to played music till 3.00am.
I do of course have an alterior motive in that I would like to see more competitors and assistants at the hill climb next year.

Thats the plan stan... I mean Dean. Some people dont want to tent it though, so accommodation is being worked on. Will start a thread very soon about it..
but the Rapa Rumble will be on the 15/16th of March.
Drew you can borrow my Bandit if you like! :D As long as you dont go red lineing, wheelies or stoppies on it. (not that you can do those anyway):Punk:

I hope you dont mind me writing this Col but this is the way I see the Rapa Rumble heading
Will be held on the 15/16th of March 2008, and combined with the excellent Cliff Hanger event.
I am sure Gary would let us use this land for tenting. For people who want to stay in rooms I suggest they book at the Gladstone Backpackers, and I will get information on other accommodation situated around the Masterton/Carterton area.
I could of course book out the backpackers just for the KB Rumble but we would need at least 25 people confirmed and ready to pay a desposit, which is going to be hard to attempt... plus the hall facilities were extra on top of that.
There will also be other events we might try and orgainse such as the ... claybird (colapop) shooting.. which we will have a meeting to decide.
I think we should probably start a thread about this soonish with all the information in it, and I will attend the next Cliff Hanger meeting in August to work it all out.
Cheers

Good idea - there is plenty of room for tents, vans etc but something more comfortable could be the go for the softies....:dodge: (says he who slept in his own bed last time).
Also looking for a band(s). Turbo Rats have quoted $1500 for the night. Any other ideas ? Any musical KBer's here ? (No Poos that doesn't mean you on your kareoke)
