today down at mates dirt track one of my boys was on his lt50 and it just started bogging as if it wasn't getting enough fuel.
i lifted rear off ground and full throttle it'd bog and stutter then slowly come right.
i'd take finger off throttle and it would idle sweet as but as soon as i wound on throttle again it would do the same thing as before then slowly come right and i would go through same process.
anyone have any ideas?
i have tried nothing yet as we were nearly finished riding and got a meeting tonight.
actually something i did try was switching to prime postition and checked fuel and 2 stroke oil tank. all good there.
when on prime position it would still do the same thing .

any help appreciated
Karl

Could be a couple of things Karl , plug fouled , clogged airfilter , dirt in float bowl , poor fuel mix or condition

The main jet sounds like its blocked, or exhaust blocked...... I took the auto oiler off my boys LT50 I found the pump drives off the final drive so it doesn't mix when idling. I run it on 50:1 syn and don't have any issues with the exhaust coking (nice smell when I'm following him). The air filter is a shit design (small) and needs cleaning every ride if dusty.
Oh yeah the frames arn't designed for 100kg dads, and.........errrrrr........um........tend to break to jnrs disgust.

rattling and smoking?.....sounds like piston slap/worn rings.
They seal ok when cold, but get sloppy when things warm up.
Take piston out and have a look and measure.

Soundbeltfarm....
Does it sound like bike is flooding or starved of fuel?
Airfilter is definitely first thing to check, and open little drainscrew on carbbowl....Could be enough to drain fuel there if there is a bit of dirt/water there.....
2 strokes need new sparkplugs on regular occasions....you can't tell by looking at it wether or not it's F***ed

Crap gets through the airfilter & into the carb so easily on these. We've had many problems with our sons one getting blocked - goes fine one minute then runs like shit. I'd start with cleaning airfilter & give carb a good clean.

my post was over a year ago but thanks for helping.
i ran one of my bikes old filters that i had cut to suit , it worked real well, . the problem ended up being a little grain of debri that got caught in where the float needle seats to alter fuel flow into the bowl.
it was restricting fuel flkow and when bike ran wide open it would run out of fuel in the carb causing the bog.
but it was all good now and i sold that bike awhile ago and the youngest has moved to 2 wheels now.
Thanks SBF

Haha sorry bout that didn't look at date. Your problem sounds very similar to problem we had couple of months ago during a race.

whats going wrong with your kids bike.
?

is it an lt 50?
get rid of the auto oiler and run pre mix.
best bit of advice i probably ever got.
make sure it is de restricted.
i think most dealers will remove them when new but i reckon a few dont.
if you have a decent air filter on your bigger bike , i would cut it to fit the lt air filter one.
also drill more holes in the cover.
the standard ones suck.
the filter behind the holes on the standard one blocks so fast so more holes on the cover really does help.

That may be the case my kids quad handles a 70kg dad getting 2 feet of air onto a concrete driveway, no worries.

Got a video somewhere, stay tuned.

I love our LT50 and will never EVER sell it. I've never owned a more resiliant piece of kit.
