TV1 news interview with Paul Holmes about Milly. Watching and WTF? The Edge microphone held up was a black penis. I kid you not.
Was it me and her that makes the rules' imagination or were we right?
If it was not then it sure resembled one!

It definitely was. I heard them talking about it on the radio. They were very proud of getting it front and centre on TV One and Prime News.

I was a bit busy feeling sorry for the bloke to notice.
I've only ever watched 5 seconds of him - don't enjoy, but short of serious injury to a kid - that must be about the worst nightmare a father could endure.

....and it doesn't get much littler than Paul Holmes.
Seriously, tough times for him BUT!!!!! There's wee voice in my head that screams 'spoilt brat, too much money and no daddy at home, must get attention by doing stupid things' etc.
Millie could have had Smith and Caughey clothes just by saying "please daddy", why get stolen items? A big screen TV, same thing. It's smells like attention seeking shit, and I don't necessarily mean media attention, I mean daddy attention. What's been going on behind the scenes in the months leading up to this?
I don't want to sound too harsh, as I said it's tough for Paul, but I do wonder...I also wonder what the outcome will be. String her up as example or let most of it slide coz of her money/celebrity status?
Naughty Millie.

Yes but being a Howick resident it is the drug of the middle/upper socio groups. Well all groups! but it is creeping into well educated well funded young adults. And it is also a take it once and your fucked/hooked drug.
Don't forget times have changed we had a ladder to follow with different pier groups at each level. ie the beer, the dope smokers, the pill poppers"speed" and then needles.
Young youth now go straight to, party pills, and a P hit ain't 5 more rungs up the ladder and a completly different group anymore. Learn from this! educate your teens!

It's insidious crap. Having tried pretty much anything you can name from smack to acid (in large quantities for long periods) I can honestly say I haven't come across/taken anything quite like P. I wasted a full 18months on that shite and now I won't go near it, or anyone partaking in the stuff. It ain't easy to kick either.

I hope you meant the drugs are insidious crap, if you where talking about my comments, i didn't mean to offend you. I haven't been involved for some years now, well before P. Most of my comments came from quite a long discussion I was involved in with some quite knowledegable officers last year. And related directly to our suburban area.

I'm all for scaring kids away from drugs, but I understand that Devil is correct. And if the kids find out you lied to them about this, then they wont believe anything else you tell them about drugs. Ever.

I don't think it's about being a mental weakling in every case. Some people have an addictive nature, a 'predisposition', if you like, to getting hooked on things. I have a sister who's a nicotine addict. From my perspective with P it was a "who gives a shit" attitude and as time went by I found myself giving a shit less and less. I also got aggressive and threw too many punches (not at my kids or my lady, thank goodness) and I'm not normally an aggressive guy.
I have a mate who not once, but twice, blew everything. The first time it was his share of the property from a broken marriage, then an inheritance from his mother went up in smoke. I've seen good relationships come apart, a great business go down the gurgler and people who I thought had the strength of character to stay on top of a drug, absolutely lose it. By that I mean they were up for days (me too) and not thinking anywhere near straight. Honesty went out the window, health suffered coz nobody ate, logic was lost on everyone. I made a conscious decision to drop it about two and a half years ago and I feel great!
If you can take P on a casual basis and not suffer any ill-effects then good on ya, but as a father of two teenage girls and a past user I say "keep well away". I don't mind if they spark up the odd joint; they haven't done it in front of me but I've smelt it once or twice and they've seen me smoke pot, big deal. I don't care of they get a bit pissed, as long it's here or at a place where they have trusted friends, not a club or pub downtown. As they get older I tend to worry a bit less but never lose sight of my responsibilities or my love for those girls. However, they are at the controls of their own lives now. So far, so good.
I think it's about education, not legislation; people will take drugs regardless of the law but in my fairly extensive drug-taking experience P would have to rate worse than smack, way worse than acid, while E and pot don't even rate on the 'problem' scale to my mind (unless you're talking gangs and large scale growers/importers etc). Alcohol is way more of a demon than E. Just coz the boffins at Lion Nathan wear suits and pay tax doesn't mean they're clean, look at the havoc their products wreak! P is also made in uncontrolled circumstances; I found the 'clarity' fluctuated heaps bewteen suppliers, the taste could be anything from sweet to acidic and the effects varied wildly.
There's bound to be some coppers out there with an opinion on P and while I would have to admit that I rarely agree with what coppers have to say, the P issue would be one thing.
P's not welcome in my house.
Rant over.

Sorry got to disagree. Not about the lying to the kids, but that for some it only takes one hit!! I was quoted a case and given all the details except the name and I believe the source.
Most definitely was referring to the drug, not your comments. I should have been more specific, my apologies.
No need to apologise! I have a good friend that has a very similar story about someone our age who is close to his family. Lost the lot, including every one he loved. And it all started as a good time every now and then on the town!
What you call a rant above, is pure gospil. From some one who knows, to those who should listen, and pass on to their children.

My Brother in Law has done everything you could name and last year he decided to go to rehab. Very proud of him and he is now studying to become a social worker and even has a kid on the way (that part wasn't planned)
Anyway my point is that he too said P is the most evil drug of them all. He was more of the addicted to weed person and most people couldn't believe that he went to rehab for weed, but it doesn't matter what drug it is, some people just get hooked and depend on whatever it is. Its all easy enough to sit back and say idiot, or just give up. Its alot harder for that person to do that. From my point of view, its about education of the bad side of it and family support if you have to deal with it.
You can tell someone a hundred times not to touch an electric fence, but if you touch it and find out it hurts you wont touch it again will you. Probably not the best example I could use especially with drugs, but sometomes it doesn't matter how many times someone tells you something you will go out and experience it for yourself.

Give him one from me too. If she's been led astray as you suggest then more sympathy for Paul and a bit for her, but she could always have said 'no'. I know it's difficult when you have peer pressure or a boy/girlfriend who's telling you "it'll be ok", there's a broken trust there and it sounds like he needs a bash for that alone.
