I was living/working in Tauranga. We were working in Te Puke on a particular day leading up to June 20th 1987....there use to be a radio thing called Buy/Sell/Exchange....i guess the must have been some pissed off Aussie's or Welshmen in NZ at that time that had stupidly brought tickets to the Rugby World Cup Final at Eden Park thinking (and this the funny part) that their team would somehow make it there. My Boss at the time heard on the wireless ( seems that long ago) that there were Final tickets for sale...2-3 days out, rang the station and got them...we were there!

Tauranga/The Mount back then was 'the' place to live. The Mount was kinda quiet and good for a perv at lunch time. If we were working at the Mount we would go to the beach at midday. The work wagon was a Ford Panel Van...351 Cleveland no less.....dem were the days.....:Punk:

All I got is memories of drinking with the Canadian team... we kinda adopted them .. was in the NZ Army at the time... Fort Dorset in Seatoun, Wellington...
i was a 16 yr old at Cashmere High School in Chch - we bunked off, crammed 8 people into my mates PoS Hillman Avenger and went to Lancaster Park and watched the AB's demolish Fiji 70-4 and Scotland 32-4 (dont quote me on those scores but i think they're pretty close, this is when tries were still 4 points obviously)
can still remember standing on the old terraces (where the new stand is) in my maroon school blazer cheering like a hooligan

Was flying back from Ohakea to Whenuapai on a SATS flight and overflew the stadium at medium level in the 727's that we had back then.
At Ohakea, the flight crew said "get on board now! - or we are refusing to fly until the game is over!"
A/c was loaded in approx three minutes and the f*ckers were almost at rotate speed as we turned onto the main runway!:shit:
Damn quick flight it was!!!

I watched Wales vs Canada from the terraces at Rugby Park in Invercargill. Is all a dim memory, but I recall that because Canada was in red, Wales had to wear white, which just seemed wrong. Jonathan Davies showed his good skills, but other than that it's all very vague.
