Mixed emotions here. On the one hand, another psychotic looney off the road by the looks, so safer for them all over there. Darwin's theory and all that.
But on the other hand, I'd be abso-bloodly-lutely devastated if that was my son or brother whose photo was now plastered all over the net. Like getting kicked in the guts twice. It would've been cop pics I suppose. Do they "leak" these things as a warning, maybe?

Yes we've had this discussion on KB before, and I too would be upset to see a friend or famliys mangled body on the net..... but it is a very good way to show us all that speed doesn't kill.... the sudden stop does.....

Some of the story below. It is believed he had an argument with his girlfriend shortly before the accident.
Louisiana State Police
Troop – B
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: February 18th, 2006
Motorcycle Fatality in Jefferson Parish
On Saturday, February 18th, 2006 at 2:23 am Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a single vehicle fatality crash at LA 48 (Jefferson Hwy) and Upstream Street. The crash involved a 2006 Suzuki, GRS 1000 sport motorcycle, operated by Mr. Ricky Lee Villers (W/M, 21 yoa), of River Ridge. The Suzuki motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Jefferson Hwy and failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway. The motorcycle then left the right side of the roadway striking the front of the Taco Bell building at the intersection of Jefferson Hwy and Upstream Street. The motorcycle then penetrated the front of the building and exited the west side of the building. Mr. Villers suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Speed is a factor in the crash. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. There was no evidence on the scene which revealed if the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
TFC Steve Volante is continuing his investigation.

Since when is 30mph considered speeding?

must admit, after looking at the photos I made note to self - pay even more attention on the roads:shit:
Seeing the damage done is far more realistic than hearing the description. Must give my paramedic friend an extra big hug next time I see her. She sees this stuff on a daily basis.

When you hit a brick wall.

There's a very similar series of photos from an accident in Malaysia, little 150cc versus Truck. Although the guy was wearing his helmet, it didn't help keep his body parts together.
Was the Taco bell an attempted(and successful) suicide?

Thought it may have been suicide at first, but maybe not, just too fast.
A long time ago, in a place far, far away, (well Warkworth, actually..) I had a barney with my then girlfriend and took off on the old T500 in a bad mood. Got a rush of the sensibles before I did anything too silly and stopped up the Dome and took a walk in the bush! Much healthier! Physical exercise is as good as Prozac at times! Less dangerous, too.
Wound up marrying the silly girl in '77 and we're still together...:dodge:

Work it out mate....(Yeah you're right , if he had hit that brick wall at...lets say 30mph, still a sudden stop, it would have killed for sure aye?.....)...The answer is simple really....no he would not have died. You are saying the sudden stop kills you...i prove you wrong!...it was the speed which ever you look at it

Actually a lot of the internal organs can only withstand sudden stops below that of 15mph, blunt force. See the human body was never really meant to travel that fast. So yes, a sudden stop at 30mph (50km/h) could kill ya.

Nope, not suicide, just dumb.
He had a fight with his G/f and took out his frustrations on the road and bike. Not a good method for dealing with stress.

So timmay is partially right......i apologise, seems it doesn't matter what you speed you are doing, at sudden stop 'could' be fatal, that i understand, in saying that... speed does not help the situation if a sudden stop is immanent....

1. Always wear full safety gear.
2. Always ride to survive.
3. Never rush to pick up your takeaways.

Funnything was, in one of the pictures you can see where the paramedics have applied ECG electrode dots to his arms to check if he was dead.
Only in America eh. I reckon I woulda ascertained his deadness without those, lol.
Yep, they are the 'special' force over there.
On a separate note, it really seems that the guys on the yankee gixxer forum were a lot less...I dunno, PC...surprised whatever at the thread. Almost like it was par of the course or expected...maybe I just need to go have a sleep.

Probably find that it is a legal requirement for them over there, the land of litigation. Not that the dead will sue, but fuck there's a law for everything.

Ouch ,looks like he was doing some mean speed.Doesn't look like he was wearing any protective gear either not that it would have made much difference in this case.A grim reminder to keep a level head whilst riding.

Uurgh. How completely awful. I don't envy the emergency services one little bit.
Actually a lot of the internal organs can only withstand sudden stops below that of 15mph, blunt force. See the human body was never really meant to travel that fast. So yes, a sudden stop at 30mph (50km/h) could kill ya.
And human internal organs cannot stand speeds above 25mph. This is why that newfangled steamtrain will never catch on.
(sorry, couldn't resist - based on the 'real science' of the day ... ) :innocent:

I meant speeding as in breaking the speed limit, ie above 100 k's sorta thing..... not any form of movement. :D

Those photos of the hole in the wall, are just so appropriate for one of the closing scenes.

Yeah I did see that.... I recall doing a sudden death job once and wondered what the heck they were. I first thought it was something kinky. :gob:
MEDIC "Hey doc... he's dead....."
DOC "okay, just let me know if there is any change in his condition....."

OK I should clarify that "most" deceased we go to, we have to officially check there deadness by ways of an ECG application, listening for heart sounds, deceased persons forms to fill out etc etc, but in cases like this one (or where the concrete wall fell on that dude at Mt Wellington this week) obviously there is no signs of life.
I do recall a story involving an Auckland ED doctor, an AO, and a head in a pillowcase... along the lines of the doctor telling the AO they weren't qualified to declare a patient dead. AO brought the pillowcase with the head in & told the doc he reckoned he was pretty safe. Apparently the doc laid a complaint

The owner of that worksite is a client... bummer for them to have that tragedy occur.
I remember having to get a doctor to certify death for a dude who had been rotting for 7 odd weeks... laughable. I can't face a blackened bananas after that.... 6 hours in the dudes flat and 2 at the mortuary. Yummy.
