View Full Version : Ride2Die perspective

I did my monthly visit to www.ride2die.com last night, and after reaching the end of the site I realised how much it effects my riding. Seeing a bloke in bits, still in his leathers and swept to the side of the road brought on some heavy thinking, especially while commuting into work this morning.
With shuddering clarity I realised something important; there is no way that I could achieve a similar state of dissaray at the megre speeds I travel, I mean, at my nana speeds I dare say I'd be lucky to break a leg or something, but to fall to pieces is well out of my reach.
To this end, I must improve my pace. I will replace my throttle with a digital one that is either full off or full on, and then build up until blistering hurtles along crowded roads is achieved. Only then can a bump achieve such break apart greatness, and stop me being such an underacheiver.
What this space....and this one.....and here and here and here

Try riding without any safety gear, that effects my riding, wow it's amazing how vulnerable it makes you feel.
(apart from helmet of course)

Holy crap - thanks for posting that link.
I was given a pair of draggins a few days ago but had decided not to wear them because "they don't look good".
Guess what I'll be wearing from now on.
I've always ridden with the rest of the gear on, but only in jeans.
Think I might look at some of Quasi's leathers.

Another thing that might give you a wake up call is getting as cos as it gets to crashing.
Its like a slap in the face.

Just need to get leather pants and I think I'll upgrade the old leather jacket.
I've got an airmesh for summer - might offload that when I leave Aus, after seeing the munted one on that website.
Plus I don't think NZ has four months solid of plus 30 degree high humidity temps - yet:shit:

Holy shit just like a war scene. Sometimes it is important to get a wakeup call as to how fragile humans really are when hitting solid objects.
If you or the other party fuk up then the biker is punished severely regardless of who is in the "wrong".
Gotta take great care out there but its a real bugger when you are too scared to enjoy doing stuff because it might be "dangerous". Used to do some risky stuff in my youth (Biking, tramping/mountaineering and "controlled" stuff in the Army) and got away with it... lucky I guess but also exercised the judgment (the little that I was wise enough to have at that age lol).
Never want my loved ones to see those pictures or else riding will be banned for ever which really would be a shitter.:shit:
Ride safe and accept that you are not the fastest or bullet proof. :nono:

+1, I remember a few months back rushing out, got to the end of my driveway and realised what felt so wrong - I didn't have my gloves on, had to turn back it felt so disheveling!

I ride my bike naked all the time, its brilliant, but I wear all my gear, otherwise I wont be able to achieve split-apart greatness after my million miles an hour prang into a chain link fence  Sometimes I get real daring and take one hand of the bars, but only quickly to adjust my tights :shifty:
