Maori TV has some good movies sometimes in the weekends, good old new zealand classics you never see on the mainstream channels.

Dunno if he's still down there, but the chippie that owned the wreckers yard they filmed it at also had a b&b place in Raetehi... well worth staying at. He'd taken 4 old Railways houses and put them together to form a 2-storied mansion, complete with a big kauri staircase he'd shipped up from the Sth Is.
The meals were great - nothing fancy, but really filling. $20 bought you a steak that was massive :2thumbsup

Bad news you guys calling this a "classic" movie... I was there at Pukie the day they shot the race scenes. Used to take motor racing photos for a bit of spare cash. Steve Millen drove the "Smash Palace" car, a Ralt RT4 Formula Pacific.

The Pukie bit is the "final" race. They shot at Baypark too, but you wouldn't have known the movie crew were there. The Pukie race meeting seemed to almost revolve around filming the movie...
