Hey.
I was just on the net with the tv on, KB site of course, and I happened to see a infomercial, for Bella Sole sunglasses. One of their "action/glamour" shots was of a guy and girl riding sports bikes, along what I imagine is the California coast line, wearing no helmet, but with the flash new Bella Sole sunglasses on. They looked so cool, I've ordered my own pair. I've already thrown out my helmet, they are so last year.
I've attached some pictures, unfortunately I couldn't get one of the bikes :argh: They did advocate wearing a helmet if you are riding a mountain/push bike. That is seriously dangerous stuff that!

Thats the yanks for you, just as long as you look good even though you head is split open from binning your bike, you are still in fashion.

I saw them advertised on T.V the other week and you get a "leather look" case to put the "titanium look" free pair of sunnies they give you, along with the other free pair and the pair you actually buy!
A squillion dollars worth of product for 26 easy payments of $59.95 or something like that.

People look stupid on sportsbikes with anything other than a full face helmet. I can understand the opting out on a harley (tis not like they go over 5MPH anyway, when they go at all*), the whole easyrider, james dean look etc, but not having a sexy full face helmet on a sportsbike would be like not having matching leathers. Tis just wrong.
* - Appologies to all NZ harley riders. Don't really mean it, just spent way to much time last night reading Dark Echo's anti-Harley site. :D

I whear a helmet to not only protect my noggin in a bin also to keep me warm. So until the "titanium look" look comes in a heated version I might just stick to the old helmet warmer.

The only reason to go to the states would be to ride without a helmet. A mate did the Harley 100 year thing and enjoyed his time with just a head wrap and sunnies on. I guess it would feel strange for a while :blah:

Particularly the 'waking up as a vegetable' part.
*I've* always wanted to be a rutabaga, myself.

Some of us rode bikes before helmets became compulsory for all speeds - I crashed....often,on the road without a helmet, never hit my head, well, only once - jumping backwards off the front of a van and doing a backwards somersault and handspring landing, smacking the back of my head on the concrete footpath.Oh,enough of the melodrama,it was what we did, riding bikes was fun...kinda like today eh? I didn't die...got a problem with that?

Over the years I have had many kinds of sunglasses. Still have about three or four pairs for different conditions. Long story why. There is no doubt in my experiance that the best, and best is not a word I use lightly, would be Bolle. http://www.sunglasses101.com/framescatalog.asp?listingid=101638&ftype=s
Perhaps not the 'bikiest' but for long term wearing in harsh conditions as on a bike they can not be beaten.

We must date from a similar era - when I started helmets were only compulsory over 30 MPH. Always used one, though, just never felt comfortable going without. With regard to crashes - I've lost a fair bit of skin over the ages, but never any off my head.
BTW, re the "oogah oogah" sig - Hooked On A Feeling?

*cough* *cough* *splutter*.
You obviously dont have a pair of mark II flying goggles to go with the lid then do you :cool2:

These are mark VIIIs (the twos, dont have the nose piece). You wrap em on the lid where the visor would go.
full face lid - lol.. How you gunna chat to the chicks waiting for the crossing lights if ya wearing a full face lid. "hey Mymfmmfmmf m is mmsmmss m" doesn't quite work :)

Sometimes I think it would be kewl to have the choice to ride without a helmet...
But then I remind myself of the time one of those really massive cicaders hit my visor, and the mess that it made (EW EW!!!) and how hard it hit...
I'm pretty much fine with wearing a helmet, eh.

Yeah, they're bloody great - until you mrs on the back decides to help by putting them on for you and puts the frame bit on front of your eyes - just when you are about 50 metres from a 65km corner - and the shock of suddenly going blind makes you forget whether it was a right hand or left hand bend you're approaching!!! :shit:
