Yeah man, just stumbled onto it. I'd never heard of it, and completely forgot that Formby did movies aswell as "standin' by the lamp post on the corner o' the street in case a certain little lady waaaaaaaaalks byyyyyyyyy".....sing it with me...."ooooooo meeeeeeeee, oooooooo myyyyyyyyyy, I hope the little lady comes byyyyyyyy"

Had a stiff right hook on him (actually he was a right fiery fucker too by all accounts)

Nice - but I suspect it was not actual racing footage - probably fiction is my guess.

<hints id="hah_hints"></hints>That's what I was thinking too -- stuff even sliding down the road with a big heavy AJS 350 single on your leg.

No to mention sliding off right next to a building, through a fence etc. I think I've watched it about 20 times now and I'm still glued to it

George Formby was a pretty interesting guy really - 'The Lancastrian Chaplin'

Back in the day - he was the man!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Formby

He was also a pretty fair comedic signer and you still hear him on the 'old time' stations. The Goons etc were influenced by people like this!!

Songs include!

"Auntie Maggie's Remedy"
"Chinese Laundry Blues"
"The Isle of Man"
"The Window Cleaner"/"When I'm Cleaning Windows (Audio sample)
"Leaning on a Lamppost"
"With my Little Ukulele in my Hand"
"With my Little Stick of Blackpool Rock"
"Mother What'll I do Now"
"Mr Wu's A Window Cleaner Now"
"Mr Wu's An Air Raid Warden Now"
"Our Sergeant Major"
"My Grandad's Flanalette Night Shirt"

Cheers

I always remember his little chuckle between lines singing. Great stuff. Apparently had a wicked temper though, and a boozer....but then what comedian didnt back then. My grandad told me a few stories about him (my family is from lancashire/derbyshire) when I was over....none I can recall apart from the temper bit...funny what you retain
