I voted both, but I mainly ride dirt.
On cops and no rules, apart from gravity. :doctor:

Sometimes it does not do, what you want, it to do.

[QUOTE=alarumba]What are you into? Road, Dirt or Both?

Mainly road for me, but of course I have to use the road to get to the dirt! Actually, I think gravel is also lots a fun, but like others have sid, it tastes different! Feels bloody different too!!

It makes a huge dfifference having a bike that enjoys both.

Well, when I was a kid I used to race road bikes (with road tires) on the grass paddock out the front of our house (we had a nice oval that later had a couple of jumps). Also used to race up the gravel roads in order to get to the bus stop for school.

But now I dont seem to have any upper body balance (sitting on a dirt bike feels really odd and unbalanced - too high up). Maybe will give it a go again sometime in the future.

Not me, but some times the landings are not so good.
And then again, MXers do not always get it right.

PS:
Could you teach an old dog a new trick?
How do you put the picture in a post with out it being an attachment.
Thanks.
It looks to me that you need a web site to do it.

Click the insert image icon above when you're typing a post, and insert the URL (internet adress). For pic's on your computer, you can't post them in the text, instead you have to have them as attachments.

At least I think so...

I started off on dirt bikes and a couple years a go got my first road bike. Very different feel, currently don't own any dirt bikes but enjoy riding the cousins' bikes when I get the chance. Maybe sometime in the future I might buy one and get back into it a bit more. Probably would say it is a lot safer than riding road bikes as everything is done at much lower speed.

Set off on the big road
turn left on to the smaller twistier road
the road turns to gravel
take the gate to the right
up in to field
head for the trees
and then down the stream
out on to the beach
along the sand
over the rocks
into the village
fish and chips at the pub
cruise on home
a great day

I used to ride both, but now its just road bikes. However I dont mind if the road is gravel, formed, or just a goat track, as long as my bike has sufficient groud clearance.

My nephews live on a huge farm up North with farm races that run along side SH1. They race along it overtaking cars and cops. One stopped one day, climbed the fence, stopped them and asked why they were riding so fast. They replied, " because we can" He tryed to tell them he was going to book them one day! :finger:

That sums it up nicely for me too.

Started out on the road. Then went into a bit of gravel and dirt and some challenging terrain. Now I like my comforts and have chosen roads. :2thumbsup

My problem is I have a tendancy to try and enjoy both on the same ride. I need that magical Triumph Tom Cruise had in MI1 that suddenly spawned knobblies when he went sans tarmac!

Played around on the dirt when I had my TS125, also had a blat on a mate's MT50 (fun because they're so light) - nothing serious, but a lot of great fun.

Love road machines too. One of the few things I like about Auckland is the motorway - you can have serious enjoyment riding a bike on that!

Which do I prefer? A nice long ride on the open road or a scrambling blat in the dirt? They both have their place and time. Wish I'd never sold the old TS - it's probably still running.
