Im looking at working in the UK in about a years time

has anyone worked in London or around there in IT and could offer any advice on things like
- what an average wage would be for IT person
- any tips on what to expect.

im a systems engineer and do the usual windows stuff. win2k3, exchange,AD, DNS, sonicwall firewalls etc. dont know much about linix and cisco.
about 2.5 years exp.

any help would be great.

Hello mate, you would earn in London $30K to $45k GBP in an IT support role, however, if you have Microsoft accreditation ( Certified System Engineer etc ) then maybe $60k plus. Cheers, Coxy

Take a look on www.jobserve.com that will give you an idea of what is out there and what agencies / employers are after.

I've been contracting over here off and on for the last 8 years and never had to wait too long for a contract to come up. However, 18 months or so ago my husband had a bit of a struggle getting a contract....

The market has it's ups and downs and is on a bit of an up at the moment, hard to tell what it will be like in a years time though...

If you've got no commitments contracting is the way to go, this is what we have done and it's been great to finish a contract and take off travelling few from time to time.
