Hi guys,

My company (AMP) are sponsoring the current Habitat for Humanity house build project in Wellington. I have been the person doing the organisation of AMP volunteers for our specified build days over the last 5 weeks - it's been great fun!! (altho organising people is a bit like herding cats.......LOL)

We're building for the Yates family (Katrina, Revell and their 5 kids). It's a 4 bedroom house, standard timber and weatherboard construction. A nice place for them to live and a good step up for the family.

The house was constructed up to 'lock up' stage at the entrance to Whitby Mall and was moved to its final site in Cannons Creek, Porirua last week.

The problem is, the house move was late by a day. This has caused a significant number of delays as a result (the biggest one being the housing inspections). The delays have also caused Habitat to lose the plasterers they had lined up.

Are there any qualified plasterers out there who would be able to help Habitat out of this sticky spot? I'm not too sure of the dates you'd be needed, but it is within the next week and a half. Please note that it is unpaid volunteering. You'd probably be needed for 2 or 3 days.

If you can help, the person to contact is Dave Moger, Habitat for Humanity Executive Director, Lower North Island. His cellphone is 021 024 08720 or his email address is davemoger.lniregionaloffice@xtra.co.nz

Thanks :D

Cant help with palsterers but good on AMP for sponsoring H for H on their latest build project.
They've done some great work around the world.
Yep - managing volunteers takes some skill and patience. Good on ya though.

i take it you mean gibstoppers not plasterers, and regarding a plasterer being made redundant he would have a job in Dunedin in 10 minutes after 1 phone call

(and can we try to keep this one on track please - there's a very short timeframe in which to get volunteers sorted. Ta!)
