I was sitting at the petrol station filling up my car ($80 thank you!) when I saw several bikers cruise past and thought to myself: I'm going about this all wrong...
So I talked myself into getting a bike which didn't take long. I read a ridiculous number of threads on KB (thanks to everyone!) and was almost ready to take the 'sensible' option and get a GN250, but the night before going to view one I spotted an RG150 and I immediately knew I had to have it. And now I do. :Punk:
I've taken it for a couple of small runs around the streets here in Kapiti and it was a blast. I was surprised how natural it felt to just hop on and go, change gears, corner, etc... I've never ridden before, although I did do a return trip on the back of a Honda VT500E from Wellington to Auckland when I was 12 which I'm sure helped. I can't wait to finally hit the road – figuratively speaking, of course! ;)
I'm doing my basic handling skills test this Saturday and getting my license as soon as humanly possible after that. I look forward to seeing you guys out and about. :)

Welcome guys,
Enjoy your new rides, and this nuthouse.
Lots to learn, so ask away.
Oh, winter riding can be tricky, so take it easy.

Nice one, welcome to the two-stroker smoker world! Bags o'fun to be had! Good on you for reading as much as you could (that's what I did before signing up as well!)
Now remember to keep it safe and sensible out there (two stroker fun not-withstanding :innocent:)

Thanks for the welcome guys. :)
I passed the handling skills test on Saturday, despite the fact it was pouring down at the time. It also didn't help that we did it on what I'm sure was the most unstable scooter ever invented... Anyway, I'll be calling into the local AA office first thing Monday to do my theory test and hopefully walking out with a new ticket for freedom! :scooter:
I'm really glad I chose a two-smoker. I'm not very mechanically minded (I'm a programmer - what can I say), so it'll force me to get my hands dirty and learn something about them! ;)
First job: figure out how to replace a bung dash bulb...

Yea, I'm sure it'll be tougher but I should learn lots, fast. Here's hoping!
Anyway, I passed my test no problem which meant I could ride to work! I did hit some strong winds and heavy rain on the way home (there's that learning thing again) but I actually found that quite fun... :innocent:
