View Full Version : CB1300 Bling: Aftermarket exhaust

After having read a report on a CB1300 owners forum, seen the ads in the UK mags and visited the manufacturer's website, I decided to bite the bullet and order a "SideWinder" can for the CB from the makers in the UK. And no... I didn't hear its exhaust note beforehand but I'm very relieved to say it sounds awesome IMHO. It was all to easy with an email or two and internet wanking.
The goods took about nine days to arrive with good old Parcel Force who frankly couldn't "force" anything to arrive quicker if they tried! But once here, the exhaust was fitted in twenty minutes and here's the proof.

They are also available for other big muscley things like GSX1400, XJR1300, Z1000, Z750 and more (including some sportsbikes I believe)

Oh, and the baffles are removeable if you really want to annoy old ladies and squeeze a few more gee gees from the motor. A power commander will help too I'd imagine, but I haven't got that far yet!

EDIT! Since first posting this info, I have added some more goodies from Germany. However, the manufacturer is Spanish. Don't ask!
The belly pan and crash bobbins are made by Puig and were a doddle to fit.
People may question why the pan...all I can say is that after a spin round the Wairarapa last weekend, it successfully kept the cow shit off the oil filter. I'm not prepared to test the crash bobbins thank you. Pics below.

Ahh. Somebody else has succumbed to the demands of the God of Noise!

Big bikes aren't made to purr, they're made to growl.

I guess they will need to be loud for me to hear you as I wait at the next intersection :bleh:

Has anyone got anything further to add?

Im thinking of going to custom chambers but was hoping that someone out there has done mods since 07 and has some good advice for me.

I looked online and looove the twin can conversions, but im thinking new headders and two new cans may be a lil out of my price range.

Also, i dredged this guy up so i dont get the "Someone has already posted a thread like this, grumble grumble" I dont want to be resposable for the end of the world you see................

Cheers

Maha has an aftermarket can on his CB 1300. :psst:
Custom chambers do a nice job & will be cheaper than the campbell item.

So i just fitted an oval stainless Scorpion muffler on her. Sounded a little better than stock with the baffle in. Removed baffle and now she sounds bloody awsome and deep as fark! Sounds badass decelerating too.

Im my opinion she looks bloody sexy, chuffed as. Dosent look too after marketee if you know what i mean, but looks way better than the 57kg OEM one. Can cost me $500 and came with all the fittings and a lifetime warrenty.

Only bad thing is that i can see my fuel consumption going through the bloody roof. Just way more fun to rev her out and let her sing now .........

Can post more pics if anyone cares

How did you keep yr headders so clean?

Acrapovic seem to use a different grade of stainless which doesnt discolour like the Honda one. I hated the original Honda headers for that reason. I think they look especially crappy at the collector. The Acrapovic was a work of art by comparison - perfect fit and finish and held together with those lovely springs

Hey cheers Maha,

Good lil pearl of info there. I have some super fine steel wool that i use for wood working finnishes, might give that a try. Do you think that Autosole might do better than Brasso? Main reason I ask is I have Autosole but no Brasso. Tell me if you think im being cheap and need to get off my arse and get some Brasso.

Thanks again

Brasso was mentioned from those in the know and we happened to have some here...yeah I would get off my arse and get some.
Try the Autosole first though.
If there is no remarkable difference then, you know what to do...;)
