Hey Guys & Gals,

This may seem like a blatant plug, but I'd like to thank the guys (and gal) who run the Bronz Ride Safe course out at Whenuapai that I attended yesterday. As a "born again biker", I thought my skills were still up there after spending the last couple of years cycling and scootering in to work, but how wrong I was. It didn't take long for the nervousness to subside whilst doing the practical part of the course, although I still haven't taken the bike anywhere near its limits, and the theory side was (IMHO) invaluable. Answered all of the questions, stupid or otherwise without seeming at all condescending to one whos trying to relearn the ropes.

If anyone is even slightly unsure of their abilities or even just needs a day out socialising and getting a second opinion about whether they are riding correctly, find a handling or safety course (not just the basic handling skills govt crap) and give it a go. Highly reccommended. And all this from a bunch of "enthusiastic amateurs"!

I agree, it was a very good course. I was on it about a month ago, more useful than a CBTA. I think CBTA borrowed alot from the BRONZ course, and the BRONZ course has much better pratical training.

do they offer different levels? I've been riding pretty much everyday for the last 4 years so a refreasher course probably isn't the best thing for me to spend my money on, but maybe a 'finer points of being safe' sort of lesson would be great

It's always a good idea to refresh your skills after an absence of riding. Wish I'd done that (after a break of 10 years), before heading to the bike shops. Would have saved a lot of damage to my pride, a broken finger and a bit of damage to the bike they put me on!!! Thankfully I've improved a lot since then!!!
