Finally got the bike sorted after needing to get the forks re-chromed and then snapping an exhaust clamp stud in the block.
4 weeks on the train whilst waiting for the forks have taken their toll. I gave the bike a full service while it was stripped down and every part of it has been cleaned, polished, repainted or generally tidied.
I then came to visit friends for the weekend. They live very rural and the last 2k is dirt track. Everything was going fine. The first 3 cattle grids were negotiated and the house was in sight. One last cattle grid to negotiate and I'd be sweet. 10m from the grid and I lost the back end. Down she went in the mud. Thankfully the bike landed very slowly onto the grass and came to rest on the engine protection bar and exhaust.
Road types and dirt tracks don't quite go together.
There is no damage to the bike but had to hose it down today. All of that washing, polishing and preening was wasted. Never mind, It could have been worse.
Note to oneself: don't visit the rural friends on the bike. Come in the car!
