after about 10yrs non riding i had a awesome weekend blitzing around woodhill. next days my kidneys and quads are in pain, particularly quads, agony to walk downstairs. yesterday i had a massage & ican't believe the difference, my legs went from decrepred/torn/broken to feel like new... major thumbs up for massage if anyone else is suffering
i wore body armour that includes a kidney belt. it doesn't actually feel that tight/supportive. i've got a seperate kidney belt. i might try wearning the seperate kidney belt underneath the armour/belt.
besides the kidney belt, is there anything else you can do to help kidneys e.g. any exercise or whatever?
alll good fun, love it...

Glad you enjoyed the ride. Time on the bike will help as time goes on. Secret for riding in the sand is to stand, stand and more standing. More control and it also ensures that the kidneys don't get hammered as much.
As the tracks get improved (happening as we speak) then there will be less whoops so this should make it easier for you.
You could always attend the working bee at The Sandpit on the 14-15th July. See Waitemata/Rodney clubs website for details. Meet the new crew.

you could also endure you have enough hydration before and after the ride, of course the biggest thing is HTFU. You can't really expect to do something so physical after a long lay-off and not feel every nerve and muscle that hasn't had a workout like that in years. lol. A hot spa also tends to help after a good hard ride in the dunes and dirt.

Oh Tuffin up ya whimp!! haha!
Actually after days riding when I started I can hardly get down the stairs to my office. And its next day it hits ya! We have a spa and that helps. Just keep at it and go for walks to get your fitness up. I ride twice-three times a month or so and that helps.
I was talkin to a well known person here who commented that he didn't get any work done the day after the last woodhill ride cause he was so sore, and he rides heaps. Although he would do the 25k loop 4 x times, where I take the first short cut home after 1/2 way and still get stuff all done next day! So its good to know the good guys suffer the same.
