View Full Version : Pics of your bike INSIDE your House

Well we all know bikes are supposed to live outside, or in a garage.
Now occasionally special circumstances arise where one feels it is imperative to put the bike in the house.

Show us those pics ladies and gents.

Before or after I post pictures of the injuries, and details of the divorce? :dodge:

The nearest a bike's been to 'inside' was on the front deck. That alone got me into trouble, as it was there because I temporarily had two bikes and could fit only one in the gargre.

The best story I know (sorry - no pix) is a guy who I went to school with. He repainted his bike in the lounge because his parents had no gargre, and he didn't want to get dust on the paint...
Another was a guy who was washing his carb parts on the kitchen table, and the chip-heater ignited the solvent.

LOL

RF900... up steps and across the deck into the house? Couple of problems with that scenario - let's just choose the first one.

YOU EVER TRIED TO LIFT AN RF?????????

Assuming I could the bloody deck wouldn't support it, closely followed by the door being too narrow... etc

LOL... I like my bike - but I'm happy enough for it to live in the (ground level) shed.

dangerous has some great pics of bikes in his house. This one isn't mine but I like it anyway. I'm sure the motel management didn't!

I used to ride my old GSXR750 into the sun-room at my old pad but I don't have any pics of it.

Most bikes fit through a doorway no problem..... ...parked my suzi in the hallway once... through the front door. Even the zx11 fits through a doorway "just".

steps though? hmm... a ramp maybe? :innocent:

A ramp might work but then I need to reinforce the deck... then the floor of the house... etc!

my garage count it has carpet, pool table tv/stereo, also has two bedrooms off it which could park bikes easy enough in

A mate parked his in his room to stop the flatmates messing with it when he wasent around, and a family friend used to cover the lounge with newspaper to polish his Harley, tis only ever hapened when the wife was away though.

Closest any mine has got was the deck at my old flat when I had to do some work on the 600 bandit, wasent a high deck but things got interesting when therottern board I found behind the house to use as a ramp broke as I was half way up!!

When I was at Bible college one of the guys came home to find his bike a XJ 750(I think) ex police bike in his room on the second floor in the accomodation block. It was a real hoot but he was not not at all impressed by the prank.

Had a mate at engineering school, who decided to take his Yammie 200 home for the term break after the obligatory end of term party and of course suitably lubricated.
So he took it out and put it in the back of his VW.
Sobered up the following day and decided that maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all.
However it took 3 guys and they had to partially dismantle the bike to get it out again.

My Dad took his Matchless apart in my Gran's bath when he was a young fellow.

She never seemed to forgive him for some reason.

My Dad loved to tell people how he striped down his 750 Comando and then rebuilt it in his room!

My old man was also pretty keen on telling people about the bikes he'd rebuilt in his room, from the age of 3 or something...
I prefer to keep fairly quiet about the honda chaly i rebuilt in my room a few years ago...

I have had my bike inside a house on two occasions for 2 folks celebrating their 50th birthdays.

Inside the Auckland Civic Center on the stage on two occasions as well.
I went up the elevator with the bike and also up a specially made ramp.

Inside a 5 star hotel in Auckland city on a stage with Deb Stanaway (radio announcer) on the back.

(have pic's of the 50th's and also one in the 5 star Hotel)

I too have photographic evidence:

This was on a road trip I went on a while back, we managed to score a sleep-out for the night with room for the bikes.

Where's my prize???

Around about 13yrs ago my mate was the live in security at Riccarton House (Dean's Bush ChCh) which is a Heritage Building  and he kept his Guzzi 1000s in one of the rooms, He'd ride it up a ramp on the back porch through the door down the hall and into the room.
Used to get a few odd looks from tourists when we'd get back from a ride and he'd ride the thing into the house

When i was a young flatter i had a bedroom that was just inside the front door of a big old house . My room was originally a lounge so very big and an open fire and shit. I just rode the traily in the door spun it 90 degrees and parked it next to the fire place lol. Flats didnt have garages in those days.
Cant remember if we told the landlord either .
My flatmate rebuilt a 350 chev motor in the kitchen which didnt matter to us as we didnt know how to cook or have basic stuff like pots and shit anyhow.
Pots were for drain trays with an ergonomic handle wernt they ??

If your missus is going t moan about having the bike in the house you need a new missus. It's a trivial thing and only occurs for good reason, ie; no garage, working on the bike during winter and it's cold in the garage OR it accentuates your good taste in interior decorating.

I built a 650 Triumph inside the house once, the missus didn't really approve, but who cares? I divorced the mental midget.

Kept a few various pieces of bikes and a mates rm250 inside the barracks, until we got found out!

Also used to do all my maintaining on the bike (oil changes, bleeding brakes, polishing etc) in the barracks foyer as it was lit and out of the rain.

Pic's long gone but the story still fresh in my head. When I was first introduced to motorbikes in 1985 my partner took me to meet some of his mates in Hokitika, just south of Greymouth. We met up with three guys along the way who lived together and made our way to their house. It was raining (as usual for the coast) so everything was a little damp when we pulled up at their place. To my amazement, they opened the back door, and all three just wheel their bikes into the kitchen/dining area. This was a true bikers house. One Norton, One BSA, and one Trumpy.

had my zxr250 parked inside once when the olds were away after a rather spirited fight club ride which popped my rear shock (lovely see-sawing motion while 'cornering'). i forgot that rear shocks have oil inside them and parked the bike inside. whoops..

still a few tiny drops (weird light coloured oil too..) between the tiles.
the olds are away till saturday, i'll park the 10 in there tonight and get some piccies haha! if it fits anyway.

good effort so far guys!

Is it cheating if I built a room onto my house just for bikes? :innocent:

My 1952 Thunderbird (with a glimpse of my JPN in the background).
My Bimota SB8R's (one for street riding, one for racing).
The two SV650's I used to race, with bodywork off for repair/repaint.
My 1928 Douglas EW350.

(There's more, but that's all I have pics of right now...)

Thanks! I like to have a bike for every mood.

I hear it's kind of expensive to have multiple bikes in NZ. Here in Idaho (USA regs vary by state) bike registration is only around $15/year, except for bikes over 25 years old -- they're $10 for 10 years. Insurance is not required. It's almost like the govt is daring me to see how many I can keep running at once.

Is that because if they hadn't, by the morning the 'British Iron' would've been 'British Rust' ?

I hate stories like that, thanks a lot.

Seriously, it's a couple of hundred bucks per year here, PER bike and some bikes are hideously expensive to insure.

It's a conspiracy I tell you.

Nice bikes mate.

back in the States.. there was hardly a winter go by that there wasnt a Harley in the lounge with a disassembled engine in the bathtub
