Howdy

I thought I would start a new post for all those great ideas for future Adventure Assault Trips that are in the planning or should be planned (and for us to talk a load of dribble )

Even places where you would like to go, and have not yet been and think it may interest others

Also put your hand up if you would like to organise a particular trip, and need help with routes, maps etc

Cheers Scott

Good idea Scott, I might be keen to organise one round the back on the Naki maybe early summer. I have got to do more exploring first to see where a ride like this would go.

Ok

I have another idea

This time we lift the level up a tad
Not in terms of riding, this ride will be suited for all bikes, big and small, but in the terms of entertainment and enjoyment
I would also like to extend an invitation to those partners that don't like riding, either as a pillion or on their own bike on the gravel to perhaps take in a winery tour and join us for the overnight stay and meal to meet the other riders that I am sure are part of the conversation when we return home after our adventure assault rides.

But I need to get an indication of numbers that maybe keen in attending

ASSAULT ON HAWKES BAY
Lots of gravel back country roads

Date = When daylight savings start, end September, early October
It will be a 2 day ride (Sat & Sun)
The riding starts in the Deco Capital of the World, we follow the wineries and vineyards before we hit the gravel and heads up to one of the highest roads in Hawkes Bay.
We visit the natural hotpools and maybe even a bbq lunch
Then its (hopefully) through some private roads to our overnight stay which is a Lodge retreat (secret ) also at the end of a gravel road.

It is complete with bar and restaurant
Accommodation will be in lodge rooms, and will include a brilliant 2 course dinner (depending on the weather will either be a Gourmet BBQ and salad or roast meat and veges), and dessert as well as the usual coffee, tea and juice

Full cooked breakfast before we head off on the next day we will see us head from the mountains to the sea

I have also arranged for a few guest speakers to entertain us for the evening, one has just completed riding in OZ and the other has completed a gruelling adventure race and lives here in Hawkes Bay

I need to know numbers as I have to pay a deposit, and I don't want to pay it and then find we don't have enough numbers :shit:
The cost should be around $80 for the full works, but I will confirm closer to the date.
I know its a long way off, but I would really like to get an expression of interest.

I have a large house and can accommodate travellers that wish to stay on Friday night

Your thoughts

Cheers Scott

This sounds like me. I'm very interested, as I won't have to ride too far on the 400 just to get to the start line.

Date may be a bit sensitive. Wife is due Labour weekend.

Ooooo that sounds like fun. Especially if there were other not-so-keen-on-gravel riders to hang out with.
Is there gravel to get to the top-secret lodge? The KR and I can manage a few k's of well-maintained gravel if I go slowly.
But I have an evil plan, which means I may have a more adventure-friendly bike by September. :shifty:

Cheers

Cold Kiwi is end of August, start of September so maybe a bit after that.
Keen to meet up with you guys if BusaJim  comes along for the adventure bit.

I'd ride my road bike..... depending on .... just how much gravel road to get to the retreat?

Sshh... don't tell anyone but BusaJim has a big (ends in 0 ) birthday coming up early October. We have booked leave from about 6th onwards for 10 days so this might be good timing, but Ill let him speak for himself about what he wants to do that week.

So are you going away then?
We were thinking of heading to Northland about then for a week, to do Ninety Mile beach etc?
We didnt quite get there last time because of flooding :shit:

I hope it's dried out by then :gob:

So if you have nothing planned and are thinking of touring let us know

Hey Zukin

Thinking about going to the MotoGP but huge plumbers bill on the horizon.
So don't know yet.

Sounds like fun ( your trip ), haven't really thought about going away too
much yet. But if we're staying here, we'll probably do something on the
GSA. So keen at looking at the options :

Scott

Sounds like a great idea. You have me guessing as to where you intend to take us! My wife and I are off to Hawaii for a conference on 14th Oct and only back 22nd Oct so if it falls in that time period we won't be making it.

Cheers

Sounds Like a great plan Scott :Punk:

As I disappointingly missed out on the WWWW ride last month, I'm super keen to have a go at this one. :scooter:Apart from the 1st weekend in Sept, all the rest of Sept is fine for me, and October fine except for 13/14 and 20/21st Weekends

Any idea when you might be firming up on dates ?

Regards, Stu :scooter:
