Buying a bike unseen

Ive been thinking of buying this bike

Id like a 600 Hornet but there seems to be none for sale at a reasonable price. While I could spend 8 grand on a bike Id rather get something for 3. I know the hornet is faster, lighter and has a lower seat but the bandit is alot cheaper and looks nicer, though admitedly is alot older.

This one Im in two minds about, having a spare bike sounds good but will cost more in freight (best quote I got was $470 for both).

Obviously its too late for this auction for anyone to look at it.

Noone else seems too interested in the auction at this stage.

Anyone want to offer some advice?

If I was you I and I was really keen I would give the seller a call, talk to him, if he sounds all good, agree to a figure that would include the bike having a current wof, you may have to pay a bit more for say arear tyre etc but you will have to do that anyway and at least you know nothing to bad is wrong with the bike.
You would need to get it really cheap without a wof, the seller should know that anyway and get one, in anycase if he wants good money, if he wont get a wof maybe something costly is wrong with it. Good luck

Tuff call really you could go down and ride one back and frieght the spare parts bike to wgtn or another option is keep looking if you still in two minds about the frieght cost:Punk:

Buy this (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=107528208&ed=true) bike. I doubt very,very much that you will regret it, even in a couple of years time.

I could spend that kinda money, Im just not sure if I can justify it.
A 900 still seems like a huge step up too.

I bought my Hornet 250 unseen and it hasn't turned out too bad I think.........but yeah it was a steal at the price I got it so my tight ass forked out for it.

It's gone in for it's first service today so will know if my buy was a good one sooner rather than later.

I did talk to the mechanic who warranted and serviced the bike though. That always gives some piece of mind.

I went from riding 250's to a GSXR750, then to an older GSX1100. Bigger cubes doesn't neccesarily mean a bigger hanful to manage. A bike like the Hornet 900 does almost everything exceptionally well, a smaller capacity bike will do some things slightly better, yet many things not as well.

PM Skelstar for a view, it's a good honest bike that could potentially give you years and years af satisfaction. Buy a 600 and in a year or less you could be wanting to trade up, bugger all people manage to break even when doing that.
