View Full Version : Puppy's ears cut off.

Don't know whether you lot heard about the Brisbane guy who cut off his staffy's ears with SCISSORS (!!)

That bastard has just got three months jail - good friggin job.

I suspect he will get a fair bit of jungle justice while he is in the nick, as lots of them inside are keen on their dogs or so I've heard. Let's see how he likes being small and defenceless while a bigger being causes him pain and mutilation.

His excuse was he wanted the puppy to look fierce so no one would steal from him.

The idiot cut off the ears at the base of the skull, we're not even talking "cropping" - though that is offensive enough.

Poor pup has gone to a loving home, but because he has no flaps whatsoever, he'll suffer a lifetime of ear infections.

I wonder if he would have got jail time in NZ? I hope he would have, I can't remember, but I think the Aussies might be one up on us on this sort of thing.

Damn shame you can't do to criminals the exact crime they did to their victim.

in NZ he would have had a good stern telling off along with 3 hrs of community service that he wont have to do plus he will have $78000 of unpaid fines wiped

Similar crimes have been committed here in New Zealand. From memory involving hoodie losers and their ridiculous penis-substitute "fighting" dogs. But I struggle to remember the sentences handed down.

fuckin sicko!!! that just aint on!!!

i once saw a "man" kicking a german shepherd puppy, so i went up to this "man" and punched him (i am NOT a violent person, believe me)!!! he was surprised (obviously) and asked why the fuck i did that?!?! my retort? "didnt like that did ya? well the puppy dont like being kicked!"!!!

his face just dropped, sad to say tho, he probably carried on kicking the dog:angry:

"Damn shame you can't do to criminals the exact crime they did to their victim."

in your, and my case, the above quoted from you is a VERY good idea, but sadly that would not allways be possible to "give back" the criminals what they did unto others!

Who is The Lion Man?

And surely a nice close up photo would sort this one out quickly?

Sorry Janno. A guy who owns a lion and tiger park north of Auckland. He is a bit of a TV celeb now after a TV series about him. There was a programme on 60 Minutes about him.

Possibly not.. I've never heard of any Lion Man. But cats in the States and Canada are routinely declawed. Obv some of them are done barbarically, but its not always so. My aunt's cats are declawed. They're house cats though, and never go outside. It isn't common practice to let them outside, from what I've heard.

Kill the man who cut the ears off the dog.

Yeah not sure of the full story there. However The LionMan did end up in court on assault charges. Anyway back to the main thread about the puppy. Poor little animal!!! :gob:

I'm happy to say that whoever told you that is talking absolute shit. De-clawing doesn't usually involve removing of the claws, for a start. They just cut the tendons that the cat uses to extend them. They still have the claws, but they're not capable of pushing them out of the protective sheath.

My partner and I went to his wildlife park a couple of years ago. The 12 week old tiger cubs we played with certainly still had their claws (and use of them). My arms had the marks for a couple of weeks to prove it. Whilst I don't have photographic proof that the adult tigers still had their claws, attached is a pic which clearly shows the adult lionesses did. Look at the right-hand paw of the lion on the right. You can see a couple of claws there, if you look closely.

Point taken. Thank you. Still cutting the tendons sounds gross to me. But what the hell do I know.

The keeping of large cats in New Zealand (i.e. lions, tigers, etc) is subject to regulation and supervision by various agencies. Be assured that if Mr Lion Man's cats have been declawed (highly unlikely) they would have been done so by a registered and suitably qualified veterinary professional in a humane manner, not by Mr Man as alleged earlier. If the contrary were true, Mr Man would no longer by the keeper of large cats. We're not talking about domestic cats here.

Hitcher I didn't necessarily say he had done it himself but he must have authorised it - (if indeed this is more than an urban myth/legend) and for what purpose. Anyway I am not going to argue this point anymore. Sorry for crashing your thread Janno.

how many people on here have or know of a Rotweiler ?sp? with a tail?

janno
10th July 2007, 15:55
Oh, are we moving on to docking now?

In Aus, docking of dogs has been banned for the last few years, so you see all breeds with natural tails.

I have two Schipperkes, which should be docked at the base of the tail. However both these dogs are au naturale (sp), one is a bobtail at about 5cm, the other is fully tailed (curled like a husky).

Both dogs look "odd" to me, as I like the docked look, however both dogs like wagging their tails, thanks very much! So although I could get them docked when they come to NZ in August, I won't, as it would be cutting off an important communication tool.

Of course, there is a huge difference between docking at three days old, and cutting a few month's old pups ears off with scissors, no doubt sawing away while for quite a long period of time.

The three day old pups being docked would have experienced quite a bit of pain too, I bet, along with those dogs that get their dewclaws removed.

Overall, I'm happy to buy a dog that has been docked, but equally as happy to have undocked dogs.

Still think undocked Dobies look dorky though, but then if the dog was given a choice over having a tail or looking cool . . .

As I understand it, it's not illegal if performed by a vet for "welfare" purposes. As the breeders are still docking, they must be getting around it somehow.

Anyway, my boys will both be wagging til the end of their days. :Punk:

Do they circumcise puppies..? They do that to humans. Must ring the RSPCA:dodge:

BTW the sicko that cut ths dogs ears off should be left in a cage with a couple of angry pitbulls. Would save the Aussie taxpayers some coin I suspect.

Why not indeed, seeing this is, afterall, and animal welfare thread. Dolph Lundgren has a Masters degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney, so don't mess with him.

Particularly by people who don't know the difference between "drew" claws and dew claws. Apparently. One suspects they have mullets as well.

Reading between the lines and the tv appearances you would be in the "business". Does anyone actually recieve any punishment for breaking this law?

I believe that it is, as yet, untested in Court. It's hard enough getting decent sentences handed down for serious breaches of animal welfare without going after these sorts of cases. If the offender was a credible professional dog breeder, that may be a different story. I suspect the SPCA may have a close interest in this, together with other enforcement agencies who are all over Trademe and similar sites like white on rice.

Avidly wish him dead, he is a disqualified human - worthiness not achieved.
Going all multicultural like we are I think it would be good to let some professional Arab judicial surgeons set up shop. Mutilate dog - no more walky on two legs I suggest. Ground level like the Indian amputee beggars overseas might give new appreciation for canine company. Would soon put a stop to it.
Animal torturing is well linked to later human homicide.

Yes - agreed! Well, don't know if that is a true fact, but every person I have met who stated they don't like animals has been a really off sort of a person in some way. Ranging from socially retarded to "get the fuck away from them as quickly as possible".

Most people like at least one type of pet. Something to do with the ability to show empathy to another living thing, I suspect.
