my goodness... i'm scared, we have roof tiles blowing off and the heavy deck chairs and table blew off the deck! and the deck umbrella snapped! and the top of the chimney came off! and ... the windows are wobbling MUCH better!!!

damn it... Auckland weather... I'm scared!!

*puts head between knees and kisses bum goodbye*

oh, and apparently there is no power in places... lucky we still have power, or i'd definately be freaking out...

You need a serious reality check LOL. What you are experiencing is a little wind.

What you need is an OE.

alas! there is no beer!!

thats probably the worst thing!! there is vodka, but i have nothing to drink it with either, and I'm not about to drink it straight, that would just lead to it all being gone too fast...

I wonder what the folks who drove behind me during my evening commute thought about my riding ability/sobriety/sanity... I was all over the road. I couldn't quite figure out whether I should stick to the left and be blown over the curb or to the right and end up on the wrong side of the road.

Oh well. It is a definite improvement over North Carolina. No flying trees.

Geees, you Aucklanders are a bit soft eh?

Curious_AJ
10th July 2007, 21:24
I'm soft and squishy... somewhat akin to a liquid centered marshmellow...

hence, I'm ready to hide under the table... yet, it's not as bad as it was earlier...

Well that apartment they've got plastered all over the Harold is literally around the corner from me and we're fine. That'll teach that fucking poncy designer. My apartment looks worse but hey, I still have a roof.

It'd suck being in a cage in this weather but on the plus side, great fun walking to work! *dodges flying road sign*

Well Im scheduled to ride from Whangarei to Tauranga this afternoon. Anyone want to join me? The rain I can handle, but a bit worried about the wind, especially when they closed the Auckland habour bridge to two wheel traffic last night because a couple of bikes got blown over. Not sure if they were scooters or real bikes though.

I cracked up on at the news last night (TV One at 10pm)

They said that due to the ferries to Waiheke Island being cancelled, that many passengers have to sleep on the boats!! :shit:

What a croc of %$#@

Dont these Aucklanders have things called friends
Have they not yet discovered those big buildings called hotels :laugh:

I bet there is, no doubt a fair bit of cleaning up to do today. Im off to see Harry Potter with my boy first, and dont intend to leave Whangarei till 1pm, just in time to miss the worsed of the Auckland motorway traffic. When I road up last Wednesday, the traffic on the motorway was down to 40km. most the way where there was no back up of traffic

Only 125km gusts? HTFU, Auckland.

Gusts here were 160-170kms. Easterlies right off the sea and it was pretty messy.

Theres a huge clean up going on and half the peninsula was without power through the night. I evacuated the workplace as I thought someone might get hit with flying debri. Have to say I was feeling a little uncomfortable with the windows bowing in.

We have staff now who cant get to work because of the trees blow over...hmmm think of that fire wood ... anyone got a trailer and a chainsaw

So scary yesterday...
The lighting fell just close to the house, policemen cars just close by because of a tree falling on a powerline and no power...so no lights, no heaters, just fire in the chemney to keep warm, all the flatmates in front of it lol!
Funny evening, reading on the floor and eating some take aways...but scary too ey!
Read that 2 bikers fell off their bike on the Harbour Bridge...Hope they're ok...

The Auckland rain radar is off line. I think that may be ironic?

11th July 2007, 13:50
old man saw some bikers stopped on the harbour bridge huggin the rail,

Said he saw busses getting blowen into other lanes.

Constant stong wind is ok, but those guts are a killer!

....lmfao. Yes I can see the irony in that

There was a garden shed being blown across the driveway at work and every way I decided to step (aka RUN) to avoid it the damn thing tried to chase me down....revenge of the killer shed :shit:
