Star Insurance has just informed me they are selling 3 "wrecks" on TradeMe.
I'd bid on these myself but unfortunately my bike mechanical skills leave much to be desired - better suited to someone wanting to spend their boring winter nights making a buck or two:

How do you get these insurance companies to inform you of these write offs? Cause I'd be keen on streetfightering a late model 600-1000 much like what N4CR did

Yeah I deal with Star on a daily basis - and they flick me a few deals like this every now and then.

was looking at the ducati 990. Got the report on it and bugger all damage. Spoke to the guy who crashed it and he said after he crashed it he rode it 150km home. The only reason they wrote it off is because a bolt on the kickstand goes onto the engive casing and the engine casing needs replacing to make it stock again at a cost of near $7000. Also front wheel was valued at $2500 to repair.

couldnt you get a set of CF BST's for $3k? or Marchesini's or something? dont the insurers need to start going to the manufacturers/distributors: "You are on crack Jimmy, get us this for a decent price, or we will bring the fuckers in direct"
Like State insurance did. Surely big nasty mean insurance companies would have traction in that circumstance that Joe public didnt?
also, there's a real old whole front end on tardme at present: off a Paso 750 I think. If you could deal with the 16 inch front wheel, itd be a bargain.....

Has anyone been to see this bike I am unable to get in during work hours and the assement sheet makes this Bike seems easy to fix with some time

does seem a very easy to repair. I almost took a flying trip to akld to have a gander but decided a trip like that would probably end up costing me several grand so thought better of it. All seems good... on the surface.
Would love to know who gets it and what it really costs to get back on the road.

Has anyone had a look at that Tiger?
I have been watching it but have given up on the idea as Mrs O has other priorities for our play money!
Damn, I reckon I could sort that out and use it for venture riding with my boys and just use my current bike for touring. John.
