Why can't we embed pictures in posts in the PD section of site?

I wanna make posts and threads with pics.

Can we have our pictures back?

please?

Don't push it, sunshine. Some of us have never been able to embed images -- anywhere.

We must remember that PD is suposed to be a punishment and not, as most of us perceive it, a compliment that we have managed to attain PD status among the endless boring, technical, jargon filled motorcycle stuff that gets posted!

Mind you I managed to get PD'd for bringing a thread back on topic - now THAT is true skill.

Yeah why not? haha.

Because certain people abused it. Surely you remember that Indy.

Hell I can't use embedded images anymore in any area on KB

Unfortunately, that is how some memebers see it, but Pointless Drivel is not, and never has been, a punishment. It is merely a place where Off Topic threads, or threads that just don't have a specific point, can be discussed. It is only lightly moderated so that anyone can say almost anything they like as long it isn't illegal or abusive.

There is a single thread where posts that are Off Topic for the thread that they were posted in can be moved to. All other threads in PD are still intact, and anyone can post to them.

There is some really fun stuff in there if you care to go looking for it. It just doesn't fit in anywhere in the main Forum.

Ah yes, those annoying ones that take up the screen! I know the ones - very "Indy". There must be a flame warrior thingy for that.

Cheers.... now I have to live with the mental picture of a half-naked Bruce Willis imbedded in my mind! Argh!!

I hate it when people embed large images, although I do use it myself on occasion. Not everyone has broadband, mkay?

Yeah and I asked about this to no avail why and old senior member like me who has been around for years has never been able to imbed pictures and others show off doing it all the time. I feel picked on and PM's to mods just told me that most were going to lose the ability so I wouldn't be the odd one out any more, but still I see imbedded pics but I can't do it :crybaby: so you only get thumbnails and links from me.

Why not? Did you get infracted or lose the privilege? I didn't know things were different for some members, apart from the ones who abused things.

OK will try it. Used to be that "img" popped up as an option when you did a post and I initially thought I must have turned something off by mistake.

Did this work? I love Dilbert <img src=http://www.unitedmedia.com/comics/dilbert/archive/images/dilbert2007071745814.gif>

Ok it did, so we've got to actually hand code it not just hit an icon to add the code!

Cajun

nope you have to add the code, but now go forth, and ruin the dialupers internet

It's not just a broadband/dial-up issue. It's a bit tedious having to wade through constant regurgitations of the same image because some lazy twats don't remove the code from posts that they quote. My "infract" finger hovers...

And I'm probably just jealous because I can't do it.

I'm sure you've seen ADVrider, they have screeds and screeds of posts all with the exact same images, for some reason they all leave the image code in there when replying. Very annoying. KB is far superior in that respect.

It's good not to have the Embed Image button any more, people really have to get off their arses to embed by putting in the code, and so it's much easier to just put it in as a thumbnail.

Yes indeedy. I'm on some forums where they just hit "Reply", and aren't even actually replying to a particular item in the post. Evidently, they haven't learned the difference between "Reply"/"Quote" and just posting in the thread.

Don't worry fellahs I wasn't intending to piss you off with too many imbedded pics, just when I couldn't do it I thought I had been picked on as I did remember from way back in the beginning how that feature existed. Cajun is the first to tell me how to still do it even though I asked mods behind the scenes and got nowhere before.

I will stick with thumbnails except when appropriate.

I just like to use pics in my threads.
