Two or three buckets... five people seated, no space for luggage. Why? (As if I don't know what you're thinking).

I'm looking at sailing down Friday am and back Monday pm. Wasn't enough time to look around last time. And there's this girl I would like to catch up with.

yer... we had to do the same back in the old days in the south island...

"poor old JLR" we would say... he is even slower than AJ....(infact i think he was one of my victims of crash and running over...if not, i can make amends latter...)

Hey do you need any more stuff like tools and shit? I was thinking a front stand might be the go if you're going to be tuning up the factory front end!
I'll have a fat syringe for the fork tool tommorrow too. (saves tasting fork oil all day!)
Let me know as I can't make it myself I'd like to be of as much assistance as posssible, I 'll be stuck here holding AJ's hand to keep him company.

Better get a good supply of tissues!

Yeah, a syringe would be good. Don't really need a front stand though. There's not much time between races at the BoB so it had better be right now (feels pretty good anyway).

Good point.
You can borrow my tyre warmers too if you want Skunk. I've got the portable petrol powered roller starter but you won't need that for the two smoke.
The transporter semi truck won't be finished until October when the final fitout to the workshop and the signwriting are done otherwise you could take that down, pity.
I think Dr Bob still has a set of those fork oil warmers, they'll be a must down there being that much closer to Antarctica and all those snowy mountains.

Have you got a local avgas supplier that I can get to on Saturday?

The bike hoist is now fitted to the van (truck) complete with the parts cleaning sink, spare parts rack, tyre rack, spare body panels and dyno (with assorted tuning analysers). I think that side of things is sorted.

Garden City Helicopters, on the way in the main entrance to the Airport (Memorial Ave), They will have the better quality gas at what was the cheapest price in town ( but will probally be shut at mid-day). Or if you come into town through Kaipoi just before the "old Waimak bridge" is a Challenge servo that has a pump for avgas.

With just over a week to go, those who are racing need to get there arse's into gear. Don't forget to get race gas this week (Challenge Wiamak, or Chch Helicopters at the Airport) the pumps at Ruapuna won't be open until midday (if at all). Check ya bikes and when you think things are sorted go over it again, 55 minutes is a LONG way on a bucket.

For those who are comming to help run this event by giving you time, thanks. Bring enough gear to survive in the extreams that Canterbury can throw at us.

For the North Islanders that have committed in comming down travel safely, but remember your trip is wasted, 'cause we've rigged it so no Norf Islander can win our BOB. :msn-wink:

Yeah, be typical Canterbury weather, you'll get the half decent OK, but probably mixed in with some half crap as well!

Sunday has now changed to partly cloudy. That was the west coast you were looking at Gav, looks like its gonna piss down over there (usually from a Norwester 70% chance of rain on sunday according to the other forum), thats usually good for this coast.

Nope didn't win

Think I got about 7th or so.

It was good fun. Only took me about two laps before my legs gave up and turned to jelly. Was riding pretty crap too. But it was the best way to get back into racing after well over 8 weeks without riding.

You should have been there Ivan, you would have cleaned up

Yeah my 125 blew up in practice so I came nowhere either, but I did race my 50 around & that was good fun, have no idea where I came but lost maybe a lap when it stopped changing gear & had to pit to fix it.

Good race.:wari:

Thanks, suppose final positions will be posted somewhere? Lost track of how many times I lapped the TZR & RG50, presumably I must have been out for longer than I thought or there was another F5 bike. Don't really care, was a fun day, just a pity the F4 bike went clack, if I get motivated I'll pull it apart.

An amusing thing happened in the last race. My tip of the gearlever stated to rattle out, spring went west in the warm up lap. So on the startline I pushed the pin back thinking that'll never stay there & I had some ducttape on the triple reminding me of gearing & I stuck that over it & it lasted.

I best start making a list.

yeah well and thats kinda the suituation I was in, they reckon they got 1/2/3 reckon you passed them 0nce... Now I know you passed me 3 times and they never did, I believe you were the 1st F5 home but to shut the young ones up we agreed to slip you in 2nd.

Cool by me, competitors always think the results should be posted by the time they get their helmet off but don't realise what a hard time it is sorting it all out when there are so many people & silly things happen like people crash or come into the pits or whatever. Whatdayamean ya didn't see me? I was brilliant etc etc. Sure you were:zzzz:.

Love that last corner of the sweeper & up & over the connection road. Had it fully pinned at the end. Earlier in the day was a bit concerned that I'd miss the exit on landing & fire off on the grass. I hear someone did that huh?

Be nice if there was a traffic cone or something put on the RHS just so you can judge where the edge of the track is, would make passing safer.

Still buzzing, great day.

There was a group sitting next to me who were following the F5 race carefully.
I think there was Avalon on the CB 100, F5 dave on the screamer, Eric and the TZ and James on the Rg 50. That was all.
At first it was F5 Dave cleaning up with Avalon second, but Avalon pitted for a long time and went right back to last and F5 Dave pitted also, not for so long but definitely lost the placing and finished between James and Eric.
Forget this patronising "give it to the youngsters", they earned it fair and square. Just as Nick (!3 years old) got second in F4, Alistair (14) fourth. Congrats you little guys, well done.

First: Dangerous - fuckin awesome day! Never enjoyed pain so much (well, in public anyway). Thank you and Rashika for your hospitality. Sorry we didn't leave anything but the odour. Will make it up to you if you're ever this way.

Next: I've put all the photos Leigh (Skunk Control) took on my server and will start removing the shit ones over the next week. Get in quick if you want to see everything; wait if you don't want to trawl through nearly 300 photos... Here's the link Skunk Controls snaps (http://www.skunkworks.net.nz/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album39)

Last: When's the next one? And what are house prices like down there?

Mannn, did you guys get scared being all the way out there so far away from the pits? It looks like you're all going to disapear over the horizon or something.:eek5:

Hell, I would have been up for a serious pushing session back to the pits after finally killing the leadsled. Shit it would have taken two days to push it back, I'll have to get a pack rack if I'm coming next year!
