purely preliminary at this stage - we dont even have a date yet - just getting the ball rolling cos I'm an obsessive compulsive nerd (in case you hadn't noticed)

i've tried to cover as much ground as possible without too much back tracking and it came out at roughly 3000km - pretty respectable and easily done in 4-6 days depending on where/when we wanna stop....

May i suggest doing the crown range between Wanaka and Arowtown. you would kick yourself if you didnt go over it.
Maybe you could do it when the Burt Munroe rally is on in Invercargill later in the the year.

no worries meanie - im inclined to go for dates outside school holidays if we can - would be better for accommodation and road hazards (idiot drivers) - february probably best? open to suggestions tho.....

you know you must add the following

All the passes.
Queenstown to Glenorchy
Catlins? if the road condition is good
Mount Cook?
Akaroa?

Well... that will def make it longer then a 4~6 day and 3000km trip heheh.

Note:
SH95 from Te Anau South and then East via SH99 to Invercargill is actually a well surfaced road.

ooo nice....some juicy suggestions there :niceone: cheers matey

i had actually planned on doing dyers pass, then summit rd or harbour side to gebbies pass, down to motukarara and then through to akaroa but couldnt be bothered putting every last route in....that, and i had my first and only 'proper' bin, while blasting along 75 next to lake forsyth on my old NS....will be a nostalgic trip that one!!

good stuff...more suggestions....

All the passes.

We did that in february, all 25 of them. But that is 2500 km alone and 5 days without including any of Southland or Milford Sound.
