View Full Version : ZeroIndex bins...

attention n00bs.
zero index just binned it, while doing a wheelie in front of me.
he did a 12 o'clock 100m in front of me.
next thing you know he is down on the ground, so i drop a gear and race up to him, and pop a stoppie in front of his now down FZR.
so i park up the honda and pick up the FZR, and there is petrol leaking out of the fuel hose, which has come off.
the alternator cover is smashed up, and there is some serious scrape marks on the road..about 40m long, and in some parts, about 5cm deep in the tarmac.
the remains of the alternator cover and tail were scattered on the road.
the road was clear and the traffic was non existent, and it was out in the country.
this was about half a hour ago, rob is currently recovering from minor grazing and cuts.
i dubbed him back on my honda..in the rain.

Since my last bin, I've got into stunting, so if you take into account the actions of stunting, it was almost inevitable.
What was he doing wheelying in the rain? isnt that kinda tempting fate.
Wasn't raining at the time... once we were doing damage assessment, it started raining.
Probably an explanation that moves him from fault then ending with a blatantly insincere request on how to become better, just like every other post.
You are a dumb n00b with your camera... what happens if you land face first with that camera? where does it go when your helmet hits the ground? Think about that before trying to stereotype me.
The reason I crashed is I was trying too hard to keep the front of the bike up, and my foot ended wandering away from the rear brake which is a mistake I hope I never make again... Look at that Zeocen: I know exactly what I did wrong, and because of that, I know how to avoid it in future...
Do you guys have stunt school weekends in NZ? I went (spectator) to one in Brisbane - was great fun to watch.

No stunt school here, I was doing stunt practice at an empty parking lot on Sundays (last two weeks), but with the weather forecast the way it was, I thought I'd find some nice quiet roads and get a bit of practice in today

Yeah, I'm ok, and yes, learning curve advice: When stunters say always cover your rear brake, they say it for a REALLY good reason

Weren't any cars for the next 2 or 3 minutes, and he just picked up my bike after asking me if I was ok, and he moved it off the road for me... It's good to have mates like that :)

Well, if we're going to compare our dangerous 'hobbies' side to side, I'm not acting like a fucking baboon on my bike, so the chances of me crashing by my own fault is pretty minimal, chances I have a collision with a cage it'll drop out the bottom because I left room incase that ever happens. And on the off chance it gets implanted into my face, I will have a camera in my face, but I sure as hell won't boast about my endeavours to fuck up on KB.
Stay in Auckland? Well if it means being far away from mR STuNTa! then fuck, stay I will.
This is where you'll quote me and say that you're still 'in training' and taking on advice from people who give it, but in actuality you're not taking a single fucking thing on board and still carrying on like a dipshit on the roads, all the while reporting in every single thing you've done like you've landed on the fucking moon or something.
Seriously, have you ever stopped to think why so many people are bailing lately, and you're the only one getting flack for it?
Reporting in is great, a great way to get feedback, but the undertone in your posts scream you're bragging like a little kid. So here's a hint, instead of posting on here about your mishap adventures with partners in crime, why not trying to learn how to ride a bike? Stunt saftely, buy another bike, learn on the dirt first... something other than crash on the road?
And yup, I'm a newbie, always will be. But I'll be the "n00b" who's still out riding while you're sitting in the garage putting your bike back together.

Apparently rather than defend himself, Zeroindex prefers handing out red reps. I dare say this is preferable to producing a quality response, taking into account an inibility to comprehend why anyone would possibly raise issue with his antics for any other reason than adherance to nazi ideals (noted Godwin's moment). One can only hope if not he, then some reading this thread will heed some of the responses and view through the jibes to understand the intent. If one noob gets the hint, then the angst is worth it, and so is the jocularity. Some will escape the bonds of squidville, while others, naturally, will be selected.

Unlike Sportsbike.co.nz, KiwiBiker.co.nz has a rep system... I enjoy using it from time to time... I hand out a fair amount of green rep when I feel like it, or if I feel someone deserves it. On the other hand, if someone is pissing me off, or if someone says 'the wrong thing' when I'm in a bad mood, red rep will fly.
While I'm on your latest post... how exactly would you describe a "Squid"? and don't just say "ZeroIndex", "Carver", or "Sidewinder" cause that doesn't count.

Basically the trick with wheelies is to cover your rear brake in case the front comes up too high... covering the rear brake with your foot isn't too difficult with a sitdown wheelie, but I feel there's a certain knack to covering the rear brake when doing a standup wheelie... I obviously haven't learnt that 'knack' yet...
Yep, lots of fun... right up until your arse makes like cheese peeling of a cheese grater.
Yeah, it does hurt a bit, BUT: sliding down the road after pulling your left leg away from the road, and half-crouching on your bike, while it's sliding down the road definitely beats sliding down the road half-under the bike... I'm gonna dare to say it was almost enjoyable, apart from looking down and seeing bits of my bike... not on my bike, while the bike was sliding down the road, slowing down from 90ish
at which point the looking cool bit stops also
Contrary to what most people believe, it apparently, while not fun, is one of the coolest things... I was speaking to some of the guys on the Scared Sheep Squadron thread on www.sportsbike.co.nz ...Rusty had this to say
"Dude , good progress.. as far as "the chick digs scars"
dude there is people on there pulling highchairs, helicopters, etc and 200 KPH standups... try practising a few slow wheelies maybe no handed , and keep the tape rolling, cos you will get in there(CDS) if ya crash.."
So basically if I had someone videoing it, I would be almost guaranteed a small spot on the Chicks Dig Scars 2 DVD... stupid lack of video camera when I needed it most
Remind me to bling you later.... very funny.

I moved my 'boundary pushing' to a different branch... I got bored of the whole speed everywhere, go FASTER type thing, so basically when I wasn't doing stunts, I have become a really safe rider. Unfortunately, I was only a safe rider when there is traffic, state highways, and in town...

Last thing I planned on doing was throwing my helmet around... it's still in perfect condition... only part of my body that touched the ground was my knee and my elbow, and that was only for an extremely short time... spent the rest of my time crouched on my bike... and no, I didn't have a hissy fit either... I was running around in circles on the grass though, cause I was trying to take off my gloves and helmet (still getting used to "D" clip as opposed to the HJC "make-it-click" buckle... well to let you know i don't do anything stupid on public roads, i am sensible, responsible and go out of my way to be safe.
i havn't done wheelies on a motorbike yet but i have done some sick ones on a mountain bike (100m). theres a time and a place for them, if done in the right place all you'll hurt if you come off is your pride and maybe yourself.
plus i do have more than one braincell, doing ncea 5th form this year and have passed it already, and doing 6th form maths. all i need is experience, experience i don't have but will learn one day.
i think my character on kb shows me to a radical that hates any kind of restriction to freedom, off kb i still have these traits but i also have a nice side just like the rest of you.

Answer? Bloody oath, not that I give a large rodents patooty what you do.
Personally I hope nobody posts I that I get nailed as I'm sick of seeing it (not that I guess I'd have to), which is probably why I get arsey with immature labotomised pre-roadkill squid tw@s deciding they are gods gift to the road because they fall off on it.

A lot of people here spend too much time on the kiwibiker forums and dont ride there bikes enough too! lol.
I find it somewhat annoying when you mention something on Kiwibiker that you have done, like binned it at a roundabout, done a wheelie and stuffed up, etc etc and 75% of the feedback you get is people telling you what you should of done instead and how you are a moron. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has to learn to wheelie and stuff up a few times before they go popping perfect wheelies. Wheelies are easy things to stuff up also. I dont see what ZeroIndex did wrong. He was doing it in a safe environment where the only person he was going to endanger was himself, and he stuffed up. He was riding an older bike, and wearing protective gear. Basically if i was going to bin it doing a wheelie i would like to have done it pretty much exactly how he did rather than be wearing a t shirt and riding a R1 or something worth a bit more than a Fzr. In saying that, i love my FZR! lol

Public road, maybe, but with the lack of traffic, you might as well of called it a closed road... the fact that after I binned, there wasn't a car for the next 2-3 minutes...

I'm sorry, but I don't quite follow your boggle about collecting red reps or why one single biker would cause the whole countries ACC levies increase?
Since I've been on a motorcycle, I've only ended up with 2 police-notified accidents, and getting checked out at hospital twice, but those were not 'acting like a silly person' crashes... one was a rear-tire blowout, and the other one I can't recall due to my head hitting the ground when I crashed.
If for some reason the ACC levies have increased dramatically over the last year and a half, I apologise.

Yes, I do keep most of my stunting for empty parking lots, however, since second gear does tend to be smoother, but at higher speed (60 - 100kph as opposed to 5 - 60kph), I decided to find some empty roads and used those instead...

Bike is in more pieces than a Lego set... well, not really... I thought of that line and just wanted to use it... tail section and tank cover are off (tank cover has a nice dent from where I climbed onto the right-hand side of the bike while the left-hand side was making scratchy noises against the road, and the tail section..... yeah, that's pretty screwed.
Not sure what to do about the generator / generator cover... team Honda is coming over in a bit (Sidewinder/Carver/Crazy Steve), so they might help me set my bike on fire, in which case it won't need any repairing...

Yeah, it's the generator cover (which runs dry, so nothing is gonna go leaking out of it... it's just a big spinny thing that spins when the engine is turning over, and currently it sitting without a cover, so if you can find something, I'd appreciate that (just to confirm, the cover for the left-hand side of the engine)...
i think the reason that it isn't starting could be something else though... how much damage can a generator take before it's screwed? if it still spins does that mean it still works? could the pickup (that sits just above the generator, about 5mm clearance from the spinny generator thingy) be messed up?

Hang in there zero.
Its all the joy of motorcycling. So you miss a ride or two, doesn't matter in the big picture.(i'm still working on the Daytona after Easters get off).
But if you do wanna give it away......I'll give you 2 dollars if you deliver it.:dodge:

Mate im gonna certainly put a bid in. But i aint gonna bid high. You should really try and fix it. It will just be teh stator and crap, call ALL the wreckers in the phone book. You will find parts. It might be $300 later but you will have a bike that runs. If you dont have much money, you can gonna end up buying a bike just as shagged. At least you KNOW what your bike has been through. Seriously, take it to a bike shop, get them to look at it and tell you whats wrong and what parts you need. Then go to the phone and call around and in stall the parts yourself. Its not so hard.

It WILL be worth it. Bike are not hard things to work on. If you need new electrical parts most likely either FZR250 or 600 parts will fit it as well. So you should have no problem finding parts. Just take it to a yamaha dealer, tell them to find out whats wrong with. Then find out with 250 or 600 parts will fit. Maybe they will. It might cost $40 max to find out why it isnt starting.

It's actually a Scorpion oval pipe, that used to be 40cm, then I took a angle grinder to it, and it's now 24cm...

I know! Post of the year! A post like that really is the mark of a quality moderator :third:
Well, dunno. On usenet most mods used to end the thread right there once Godwin's kicked in. Hitcher? (No it was really a pure gold star post - how long was Hitcher waiting to post this one I wonder?)
However, I'm not adverse to letting this thread run though. Its pure comedy gold. (In a tragic kind of way).

I'm glad the thread did continue... cause I think some people, including myself, learnt a valuable lesson, about not being a complete dick when it comes to arguments/flaming...
