as im about to embark on a restoration project on my bold'or i would appreciate your input/advice re a parts/dealer to befriend,i guess i would like to be able to source oddball parts ie grommets, fairing mount kits etc. although who knows what bits and pieces will be required as i get the bike torn down.
Do all honda dealers stock or have access to the same parts?:scooter:

Honda shops should be the same as Yamaha ones with access to older parts. I can still get stuff for my 83 new (ex-Japan). Costs an arm and a leg though. Complete parts diagrames taken off the micro-fisch are online with prices accessable to the dealers. Pick your favorite workshop and give them a call.

good luck.. Blue Wing Honda (the distributor) is useless for parts since Mark Robinson left

grommets etc should be easy enough to find if you have the dimensions.. try sourcing the HTF bits from the States, Japan or GB

Ecohonda is your friend. You will find lots of satisfied customers on here.
They exist in TeAroha but had made it their business to obtain Honda parts from closing businesses and also easily able to source direct from Japan or where ever.
And they will get parts into NZ allot quicker than Blue-Wing are interested in providing.

Email them or call Malcolm..

Also have a look at www.wemoto.co.uk

They are great to deal with, and stuff I have ordered from them has reached Brisbane 4 working days after I placed my order. They've got a ton of stuff for my mid 80's grey import which I couldn't get locally without paying an arm and a leg for.

Can't rate them highly enough. Actually I got put on to them from someone else on this site, can't remember who. Thanks, whoever you were.

<hints id="hah_hints"></hints>+1, I am one very satisfied customer.

Better service than you'll ever get from a shop, cheaper than you'll ever get from a shop, and sure as hell faster shipping, straight to your door. Give them a call, you won't regret it, especially with a bike of that vintage (that kind of era is their speciality).

Give Malcolm a call, (07)-884-8810.

my biggest problem will be trying to work out what certain parts a re called! for instance the bracketry that holds the footpegs and controls (i assume it is called the footpeg bracket?) it has rubber grommets holding the bracket and the pegs on, it would be nice to be able to identify these parts correctly so i don't sound like a complete prat when i phone to order parts!.
although not a novice riding biles i have never done a rebuild on a bike but im itching to get into it.cant wait to see it shiny again.

<hints id="hah_hints"></hints>Hahaha -- I'm sure Malcolm thinks I am a complete prat for the same reason.

`Oh hi -- what I want is, well, you know that little rubber plug that goes in where the camshaft comes out of the cylinder head on those XL250s? Yeah. Have you got one of those? Do you know what I mean? Oh, ta. $5. Cheers.'
