Sunday 19 August 2007
Postponement date is Sun 26th if weather isnt looking good. Will put a cancellation over Local Radio stations. Also the Rock and Hauraki Fm.
Ride meets either 9.30am BayRide Cameron Road Tauranga, and on the day registration is at Okororie Hotel 10am.
The bar wont be serving alcohol but it will have Tea and Coffee
The route is to Hamilton (Main Roads) then back roads from Hamilton back to Tauranga.
The ride wont be going past the accident site because
A - I think thats quite personal
B - Safety of Bikes will be an issue and where the site is would not be a good place for 200+ bikes to stop or even rubber neck.
C - I want to celebrate Leons, Si's and Toni's lives - not deaths.
Registration is $10 and you get a NZ Bikers Against Drunk Drivers Logo Metal Pin.
Fundraising goes to NZ Bikers Against Drunk Drivers For:
Website hosting - to continue to publish awareness, to publish polls and to have a place where people can post opinions. And hopefully to continue to save Lives.
Funds also go towards presentation tools in the form of A course in presentation and speeches, software, a trailer specifically designed to have Leon and Simons bikes professionally and permanently, protected from weather mounted to go out into the community and Educate Secondary School Pupils the perils of Drink Driving and hope that I can reach a generation, Also to tour Bike Shows.
Travel will be expensive - especially if I go from one end of the island to the other..
The funding does NOT go to any of the families affected by this disaster.
If you wish to make donations to the families email baddnz@gmail.com and I can pass on your details.
Please pre register either online at www.bayride.co.nz or at Bayride Cameron Road Tauranga so we can see what size this ride will be, we will need a team to help with traffic according to the size of the run, we'd like a fair idea before we have to meet on the day also so we can find a stop for Food etc big enough to park the bikes.
Any questions please call BayRide Motorcycles Tauranga 07 5713040

This ride sounds like a good idea, I saw the article in the BOP Times on the weekend, it's certainly a poignant cause and nice to see it gaining momentum.
I expect the ride will be a leisurely cruise over the hill, if so the wife and I would be most keen.

Hi Guys
This year (Yes this will be an annual event) we've decided to limit numbers to 200 so we know what we're dealing with, since its our first time round.
Next year we will have more sponsors, a bigger team and then we can have a bigger number.
So please get in quick if you intend on joining this run
You can register at www.bayride.co.nz or at Bayride itself on Cameron Road
Cheers

Have checked weather for Nth Island today for the long distance travellers.
One report says rain for whole Nth island.
The other report says east coast becoming fine, central and west coast rain. (Today)
Becoming Fine here at Tauranga tomorrow...
For all you hardened buggers (I know many of you haha!)
Bring your wet weather gears.
See you tomorrow, safe journeys!!

Ahhh bravo , and now we know what that was, a suicidal maniac, causing her own Head-On smash, poor Truck driver.
Not fair when some people want to live (Like my hubby and his mates) and heres someone who doesnt, and kills herself with no regard for anybody else. Selfish.:spanking:
