Welllll - here I go with a poll. I don't know whether I am a Tourer rider or a Cruiser rider... So I figured I'd post a poll to find out

Here's the bike Yokai's Bike in Future Mode (http://www.meths.net/bike.jpg)

I ride the same spec bike but without the nice chrome bits (YET)....

Am I a Tourer or a Cruiser? (I'm not a hog or a SportBike).

Tourer I would have said, but the sports bike nuts might argue differently

Tourer for sure, say...that's a nice bike.

definately not a cruiser, forks aren't on enough of an angle, front wheel isn't big enough and not enough CHROME, smatterofact there's no such thing as enough chrome!

Neither - it's a Cafe Racer.

Classic cafe racer lines.
I got to agree with Jim2

I'm sort of sitting on the fence between tour and cafe. Agree with motu though, whatever it is, it looks the goods

Seems that you like the nice chromey version - anyone got some spare dosh they can throw me to help me get it that way :killingme:

First things first - rear Coils and a nice dremel polish on the cylinders.

Yeah, no way it's a tourer or a cruiser. Completely non-cruiser geometry, and you can't have an utterly-naked tourer, it's just not the right word, is it?

It's a cafe racer. No other term for it.

Nice looking one, too.

I don't see a hell of a lot of chrome on that bike, just the basic stuff like wheels and exhaust - what ''chrome'' is missing on your future bike?

The version that I own has black cylinders, black Exhaust, black exhaust cover (what protects me from getting burnt), black Coils, black lower forks (what's that bit called) and black engine case thing (below and forward of the sidecover) ... Effectively its accents, I guess.

I will have all of those bits done by the end of summer I hope....

:ride: I go with the Cafe Racer line. Like I said when you first joined, it's a cool looking bike, and I bet you're having fun on it.

So what do ya call older beemer twins? - mine probably counts as effectively naked, and some are completely so. Are they just "motorbikes", defying classification???

They're 'standards'.

:kick:

Actually, no, really. 'Standards' is the accepted term, AFAIK.

[Edit: Yours isn't nekkid. It's NOT. It has plastic bits up front. Ridin' the bikini beemer, that's you.]

All the younger folks would probably call it a Retro. What ever that is!!
I call it a very nice cafe styled bike.
If yours is the black one, keep it that way, just add a bit of tastefull chrome in the right places.
It's already a sweet looking bike.

Yup. I have to agree with everyone else. Definitely a cafe racer and quite a tasty one at that.

Just a little bit of chrome in the right places and it'll be looking really sweet. Nice bike.

Is that what that's for.....

Yep, it's a cafe racer. Pretty similar in lines to Honda's GB400/500, both nice looking bikes.

Right - so a cafe racer it is - now time to figure out who wants to come with me on a cafe crawl - 4 cafe's over the space of 8 hours - about 2 hours riding between cafes... Starting in Auckland, and doing a nice big circuit with some twisties in it (not that I know what a twisty is) and some nice straights... I'm guessing that it would be a sunday at some point, but I think it would be a cool thing to do. :soon:

bmws are like a "chunky" catagory - chunky cruisers, chunky cafe racers, and chunky sports bikes. so yeh they are theyre own. good bikes - i still would mind a 650

avgas

all the way - looks so good
but i dont like that vtwin in there - chuck a parrallel twin, or even better a single in there, also chuck some heavy duty shocks (konis?) inthere.

Isn't it funny how we get pidgeon holed into catagories these days. It looks like it's a very usefull bike , a good all rounder, of your list I'd have to go with Cafe Racer just to fall in line ;).
