Been sitting most of the day like a little kid waiting for xmas morning to come around...

Saw the bike white truck of biketranz pull up and I knew exaclty what was about to come out of the back....

Would just like to say a big thank you to Peter at Emoto for sealing the deal on this damn fine machine....

Just have to balance spending time in the garage with the new toy and time in the house with the mrs lol....

It's actually quite ok to sleep in the garage for the first couple of nights, I mean, how would you feel, all alone in a foreign country!

I can give you a note for the wife...........no guarantees as to its efficacy, mind.

Good choice tho, enjoy the handling, torque and noise! What more could you want.

manwithav8
25th July 2007, 19:37
the driveway is only worthy of 1st gear and bugger all RPM.. Gets boring after a couple of laps... Oh and the turning circle on the monster is non existant...Doing a "u turn" on the street will be hard let alone trying it in the driveway lol

manwithav8
25th July 2007, 19:40
are what I was after.. Prefer the thump thump than the screaming sound of an IL4

d00d, sleep in the shed with her tonight!

you know it makes sense, as has been said before "in a strange and lonely land you would not want to be alone on your first night there" would you?

well there you go man thats all the excuse you need! (trust me it WILL work with the missus)

psst, when you get around to "appreciating" the exhaust, make sure you use some "grease" and lubricate your "piston" while you are "appreciating" the exhaust!

*whispers* its even better with the engine running;)

well i would, wouldnt any of you?..........

but if you look closely you can see the number plate brake sits rather low, almost looks like it wraps around the rear wheel... I want to raise the plate so it gives a look of the bike sitting higher in the rear end. Then there is something about the exhaust note of a Duc, but with standard pipes it isn't much different to any other V twin. May core them or get some slip ons... Also bar end mirrors as opposed to the mickey mouse ears on there now lol

Modding shit...
Get a pair of twin headlights too. The single make them look dated. Small twin 4inch lights should do the trick. Trademe has them.

manwithav8
25th July 2007, 20:30
where did you get them from and what are they worth???

Just looking at some tail chop kits at the moment.. Not sure if I will cut the rear end off completely or just try and lift the number plate further up underneath yet.. Cutting the frame is a little scary at the moment lol

Cutting the frame is a little scary at the moment lol Got em off a mate in aussie for $75 aussie..he got them from aussiestreetfighter website, sorry i havent got there web addy but if you do a search with that title it will come up i am sure..or even barend mirrors will bring something up..in saying that no doubt you can get some nice ones in NZ.Try sportsbikes.co.nz as they did have a few different types.

manwithav8
25th July 2007, 20:43
will look into that.. Still can't decide what to do with the tail...Here is some pics maybe you can help decide.

First one is just a half chop (number plate just moved upward)
Second is full tail chop..

Second is full tail chop.. For me anyway the second one looks the Ducs nuts..scuse the pun, awsome.the only thing to consider though is when riding in the rain your going to have water flying everywere as i found out with mine..to be honest i never even thought about it before buying my undertray but believe me the oem guards do keep the water down..just a thought anyway,as i say for looks alone the second pic looks fantastic...may be easier to live with the first one..depends how much touring around you intend on doing i guess.

Nice choice of bike - I'm trying to persuade the missus to get one but she'll prolly get an IL4 screamer instead.

You will get all sorts of shit thrown up your back in the wet if you chop the tail off though. Unless you're gonna be one of those dudes that only ride when the sun is shining!

When are you gonna change your name to manwithavtwin?

That's a way cool bike. Too good to leave in the garage. Good on you!

On the strength of your new bike I went out to the garage and realised the wof was due. So another excuse to ride tomorrow. I love using motorbikes!

Ride happy and keep the visor up for all the world to see! cheers. :sunny:

Good choice of bike dude
There is also this version of the tail chop, its a bit of a compromise between a full chop and just 'trimming' the plate holder.
Chops about 4" off the frame, uses the original mounts, rego plate light etc, and keeps a bit more crap off the rear end if you get caught out in the rain..:gob:
The pics aren't so hot.....will try and get some better ones, these were after the SCRR in April, had a wee spill on the way home if you look closely :shit:
A good website for bits is www.desmorados.com

Enjoy riding her.....:scooter:

HOw did you get the pack rack to fit? Is it made for the monster or did you just jimmy something up to make it fit??

There is an option for English down the lh side of the site, I think.
The pack rack is for a monster, there was one on retardme a few days ago.
I got this one with the bike.
Cheers

have made up a bracket out of alloy the relocates the number plate and pulls the indicators in a fair bit.
Now all that is needed is powder coating then fitting for real...
Looks a little out of place with the alloy plate but when it is black it should look shit hot!!!

I got my Ducati 2 weeks before I got my full licence....I might have ridden it about 500km in those two weeks...and I might not have officer.

PS I'd need to fully debaffle the muffler if I wanted to get a 'home run':blip:

trust me, it is hard not too.. It is getting boring doing the driveway 500 once a week to make sure the battery doesn't discharge... Boring ride really but not too much longer to wait.. The worst part of the driveway 500 is the u turn at the end.... about 8 bits gets her round before heading down the back straight. I was told the turning circle on the monster was bad but damn, now I can see it for myself.....A bit of throttle and clutch slip gets her round nice and quick though

Don't be too proud to use "Ducati Foot" when manoeuvring slowly. Japanese bikes ave smaller turning circles so you can do slow speed stuff with both feet up. Do not try to prove anything by keeping your feet up unless you want to have dents pulled out of your tank!

I agree mcjim.. WOuld rather a nice straight bike than a bent one....I do have a bad habit of shifting my weight foward, inside foot comes off peg and extends out straight and inline with front wheel, then a slip of the clutch and it comes round.. Have to remember I am not on a moto x bike sometimes aye lol
