discussion thread for calendar event.
Well the forecast looks like it'll be Nasty on Sunday for gijoe1313's ride so for noobies looking to have their first group ride or some of us not so noobies looking for a gentle pootle we're meeting at Botany BP on SATURDAY 28th July 2007 11:00am for an 11:30 start.
Botany BP is on the corner of Ti Rakau Drive and Chapel Road. Plan is to avoid busy main roads wherever possible. I'll be following in the car to offer some protection to the tail end riders.
Route should cover about 200km of scenic New Zealand.
All welcome so long as you realise this ride is for introducing riders to group rides to help them get the best out of some of the bigger rides come summer.

My wife deserves a spin on the bike.
My children deserve a day out too.
Nearest family is 2,000km away.
This is the only solution to all of the above.

A wee change of plan. A friend of mine whose kids are friends of our kids has offered to look after our kids for the duration of the ride.
Which means I'll be showing up upon a Ducati instead of in a Mitsubishi.
Whoopee!

I was being friendly to the nos bike and the kwaka while I was on my bike, reversed a bit for them to have some room to move and some how forgot there was a stallion behind me and back right into it, god I felt so bad. I quickly took off behind you.. I think Jim's SWMBO was ready to have my head :(

Oh and I was on the ONLY cruiser on todays ride.
It was a neat ride..... meeting some new faces and some old faces
(ok they weren't THAT old).
Ixion neat to ride with you again and young Erik..... nice to catch up.
McJim, nice leading the troops there mate....
Chickadee - that white jacket can be seen for miles.
Maverick - Your sun genie certainly was working today.
Headlight - Got dark on the way home and discovered that my low beam wasn't working..... High beam was ok. So not sure how long it wasn't working for today. I have now since changed it over to a new bulb.

Hmm that's strange, I thought only the tyres touched... if it hit the tyre fender I don't know how it would damage something in that area? Either way, I've been having a bad feeling all day, scared to check back here. I am _SO_ glad it wasn't serious.
A thousand apologies to you and your wife :(

Apparently your tail sticks out further than your rear wheel and it connected with the leading edge of my left hand side fairing just before the wheels touched.
I dunno - I didn't see it happen either - I'm very surprised the bike didn't fall over since the side stand holds it very upright.
At the end of the day it's fixed - think it was partially cracked anyway from the engine vibration - common Ducati issue.
No harm no foul - this is not an invitation for people to come and kick my bike though!

So I ain't chinese? And you ain't Scottish? And the world is flat? And motorbikes aren't fun? And crosswords aren't angry? And Earth is really Thrae? Ai yi yi seņor! Speaking loco now! Just remember to gather your rosebuds where you may!
And is that a melted crayon on the sidewalk? Wait! I hear the footsteps of an egg steeped in the sauce of a qumqat, marinated slowly over a griddle which is casted from the slag of Mao's great leap forward! And verily, let it be said that a pinhole was invested into the back of a portrait of a monk living in penury!
