Lost key CBR1000RR

Hi, i have lost my key for my CBR1000RR.
and really dont know wat i can do.
Do i need to buy a new HISS and ignition from Honda?
Can i take the number from the igniton barrel to Honda and they can reprogram a new key?

Any help would be awesome.

When I got my 05 CBR00RR I was told that I could get another key from outside the country, cant remember where, but it would take some time. Was advised by the dealer NOT to loose my keys, I know this does not help you now. :shutup:

i'm assuming you've lost ya spare and you didn't store the little key fob with the serial number on it? ( or didn't write the serial number down in ya owners book - i know we're blokes and we don't read these, cos thats what it tells us to do ;) )

if you have neither of the above you're about to be stung for about a grands worth. Hondah.. and only honduh are about to say thank YOU very very much :buggerd: as they replace the whole unit

i have a new unit from TEXA (http://www.texa.it/INGLESE/Axone2000.htm) ( an italian diagnostic manufacturer) that reads the trouble codes on ANY make of bike with a puter AND codes keys for the ones that need it .. have your local contact Victor Cobb at Sulco Tools ( 021 679003) and he can tell them about it ..

Wouldn't that require the ECU to be actually working (which in turn would require the key so the ECU would function)?

If you have lost all your keys, you will need to buy a blank honda key from a Honda Dealer. Any good locksmith should beable to cut the key to suit your ignition.
Then the Honda Dealer will need to code your new key to suit your bike.
Its a very simple job for the bike shop. Shouldnt cause you any stress.

If you have just lost one key and want a spare, you can get the blank, get it cut to suit your ign (using your spare), then get it coded in.

The key (for the VTR) cost about $35. Check with the dealer that they have the right cable for coding the key before you book it in.

Integral mirror/indicators are on MV's and Gixxers aren't they , not Honda's ?

I know about the price of the HISS key system - but I have never lost a key, and if I did, I would sort out a replacement before losing the spare.......:dodge:

As Sparky says - it is quite simple to replace the key.

this thing will do ANYTHING a factory tool will do and more .. all major and a few minor bike brands ..Italian, Jap, German, American .. etc

Kerry from MotoHaus is the first to see one .. he saw the spec sheet and his knees went weak apparently ... ask him
