View Full Version : Crap Album

Boredom at work gave me this idea (even though I'm flat out)
I might do this weekly as I get to listen to a wide variety at work
The Inaugural "Blakamin's Crap Album Of The Week" goes to
GREEN DAY!
"American Idiot" is the title and the first single of this poorly put together piece of crap.
I have never been so disappointed with a band since Metallica.
It sounds like they are trying to recapture the status (and position) of "Good Riddance" by making an album that is 70% ballads... the thing is one of them will probably be a hit.
There are 13 tracks on this disc and I could in all honesty say I nearly like 2... note the nearly... that how boring this album is!
The "nearly" songs are "Letterbomb" and "St Jimmy" both done in typical "green day" style
The worst??? "Are We The Waiting" - the biggest load of try-hard soccer-hooligan sounding noise I've heard from a band like this.
And "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"... hmmm, wonder where the ispiration came from??
I would never recommend it to anyone! (then again, Zed might like "Jesus of Suburbia". I didnt"

They’re a funny band, some of the early stuff was a it repetitive but with some great stuff mixed in. Thing was it sounded like it was influenced by the Killers Iron Maiden album with a bit of AcaDaca thrown in.

Cajun, I ALMOST agree with your Metallica comment. Sure the black album had crap like 'Enter Sandman', but it also had good songs like 'Wherever I may Roam', 'Nothing Else Matters' and 'Unforgiven'. You may accuse me of being soft, but I tell you, listen to some of my music (Children of Bodom) and you will see it is nothing soft about it.
Me and my friends hate rap with a passion, and do everything in our power to persuade people to the light side. Pop rock is most infuriating, so I have pretty much given up on the radio as well.

i like metallica black, unforgiven is one of my fav metallica songs, but all ones after that nope.
Most of my music is softer sorta stuff now days, i listen to alot of engima, my fav band is The Tea Party(canadian indy style music), other fav is ugly kid joe(no longer together)
I must say pop rock does get annoying, but they band is usual not around long enough to get on ya nerves that much.
I listen to all of those Genres apart from old school hip hop

They are a scandinavian metal band wit ha classically trained opera singer (female). The music is REALLY good, and they are actually quite famous.
Check out "She is my Sin" by them, too good for words

Heck I even like kids music now & then, like Link’n Park
Blindspot & Savant have awesome first albums, really impressed good NZ music.
Days of the New are pretty good if you can find their albums & the odd thing is the first Tantric album (ex Days.o.T.N.) is easy to get (& good) but the new album is not imported to NZ. Anyone got it?

Yeah I know it is sad, hair kinda went bushy if it was too long at the top but liked the length ½ way down my back so I got the idea from RiffRaff (Rocky Horror). Also this was at a time when all the kids at school had Flock of Seagulls cuts (shaved up the back & girly swept sideparts (bangs?) at the front) so I wanted to do the whole anti trend thing. Had tried the punk thing before so it sort of mixed the styles.
Took ages to get used to it being short again but these days it is no.1/no.2 but is so thick it looks longer.

Heh heh...
funniest interview I ever saw was a cut together piece of two separate interviews with Pantera and Linkin Park... Linkin Park were all 'yeah, they were great influences for us, we really like their music' , then Pantera, 'Linkin Park ?, those skinny arse white girls, I'd like to stick my .... up their .... and eat their frecking eyballs afterwards' etc etc (scuse the non profanity).
Very funny...
Biggest sell out for me was Janes Addiction and Strays... Grew up on Ritual De Lo Habitual and Nothings shocking, awesome stuff... this one was for the money, sadness :(.
Heh heh... 'It's like a paper cut and it really really hurts', you've got to be joking, Linkin Park are NSYNCH with chains.
Metallica rule, well, they used to, ride the lightning and 'and justice for all', very cool, StAnger, new punk played by old metallers, kind of badly too, ah but good on them, at least they look like they are enjoying it.
Yours,
Opinionated Sedge.

You will seriously grow out of genre worship in regard to music as you put a few years behind you. If you actually appreciate music in it's entirety that is, and aren't just repeating the "respected wisdom" of your peer group. And trust me, most people in my class/year have ENTIRELY different views on music. I mean, I love heavy metal, but I also like classical, and heaps of others. What I hate in music is when it is generic. Then there is no point in making the song. It is just a waste of time, but still the mass consumer laps it up, listening to what the man tells them to listen too. Whoops there I go again...

What I hate in music is when it is generic. Then there is no point in making the song. It is just a waste of time, but still the mass consumer laps it up, listening to what the man tells them to listen too. Whoops there I go again...
There is a point, and that is to fund the music that doesn't make money that you and I probably like a lot more than the "generic" stuff. It is the marketed product that pays for hidden works of genius. Unfortunately.

Very true. The good music should be more exposed to the community, therefore helping the little band/group/whatever could make it big, and show people music they don't usually have access to.

The really good music will always be found by people with discernment and taste if only eventually, given its lack of marketing meaning it has to operate through word of mouth.
I've found the internet has really encouraged the spread of music which does not operate through the traditional marketing channels.
Leave the poor huddled masses to their bland, homogenised processed cheese music...
they deserve it.

We gon' ride, we gon' roll... Truly inspired. 2 weeks in a row at number 1 eh? It almost makes me want to attack my ears with a power drill. From looking through this site, it seems that most bikers are quite intelligent and funny. It seems that we got the extras and the rest... well... they got 'We gon' ride'

Who f(*in cares :whocares:
I said the same thing when I was your age madcat. The people who buy singles are welcome to them.
They're the same people who eat at MacDonalds, buy what they are told to buy, drive what they are told to drive, wear what they are told to wear, etc...
You should have been born twenty years earlier mate - you would have loved the whole punk thing back before the record company marketing executives tried to commercialise it....

Generic 'Cool' "artist" makes 'hip' song, makes everyone want to be a boy racer, M&T get rich, and here is the shocking bit, THE BOY RACERS HIT AND KILL BIKERS!
It's a conspiricy!
And oh, BTW I saw Torque yesterday! :D

Ohh, being born 20 years ago would of been very, very different! Honestly, I am not a big fan of punk, per se, but being part of the Metal Militia, well, now we're talking!

Many metal bands owe a great debt to some of the original punk/nwobm bands. pm me your email addy and I'll send you an example.

The stupid thing is, in NZ, the charts are made up of singles sale and airplay. which means every radio station that plays the same shit 8 times a day (and sometimes more after 2 am) gets this crap where it is. thats why this shit is everywhere. it's got nothing to do with consumers, its all the music industry playing with each other. thats why no one hears decent music.

Exactly! Some of it is quite poetic. Lauryn Hill for example - soem of the rap she did with The Fugees was great!
yea but doesnt she hate white people? She said she would rather her children starve than have a white person buy her albums.
thats not very nice.
cant we all just get along.
on another topic of another band.
