WANTED: 1998 ZX11 D1 Fairings

Just after the top front fairings, both sides.

No I havent crashed it already! I just want to make her look more pretty  She has been dropped on each side and has a few scratches and a crack on one side.

Either that or someone that will repair and paint them for me. The paint however is metalic candy apple red... which I have been told is rather tricky to paint.

well,
unless you can find perfect fairings in the same colour (quite rare i would imagine) you best chance is to get them fixed. Take them to a plastic welder (I'm assuming they are plastic, most farings are) and get them fixed up. Plastic welding is one of the cheasest way to fix cracks :-). After that sand them, fill any scraches and give them to a good painter.

You other alternative would be to get some new ones made in fibreglass. http://justfairings.co.nz/ makes them, have a look if he's got a mould for your bike and how much he charges for a set of panels.

I also work in the fibreglassing business and I am starting to make parts at home,in my spare time as soon as i am coming back from my holiday (going on 13th this month and coming back on 15th next month) . I already got an 'order' from a member on this forum lol. If you wany more details on this option go to the mechanics section and have a look in the 'fibreglassing work' thread.

As for the colour, i know from a painter that anything along the lines of maroon is quite a hard colour to paint lol. It doesn't cover whats underneith it very well, reveals imperfections quite well, and on top your one has the effects to it as well (metalic and candy)

Hope I'm of some help
Andrei

metalic candy apple red ? umm ok

you wont be able to colour match what you have, the only way is to repaint the WHOLE bike and colours like these cover different on plastic and fibreglass and steel ...

Cheers for your feedback folks. Looks like I shall attempt to repair them myself and get them sent off to be painted. Will have to wait a few months when my mini project is completed as I will need another form of transport to get to work and back etc while they are being done.

Anyone that can do them though in a fast turnaround please PM me!
