Bike selling now at $10,800

However look at Trademe it is not reserved and bids starting at $9950.

For those of you that know me on this site and BuckBuck's Newbie Training Update, will be aware of my disciplined approach when I set out to start riding. Through 2006 I practised and practised on my GN250 and was very fortunate to have had the wise counsel of our mentor Uncle B. In February 2007 I purchased a cruiser style bike and by March after 1000km immediately traded it, because of a spine condition I have, that bike was going to be a constant uphill struggle for me.

I purchased the new 2007 VStrom, and it is a real touring pleasure, and to be perfectly honest I am not getting the full benefit of the bike, I would like to go on more frequent long rides. I am clocking up the kilometres for sure but have identified my riding patterns to be within 150km - 200km each ride.

When I started riding, only last year, I set myself a two personal targets which I am sure a lot of you will not be surprised at - the first to do 1000km in Stokes Valley on the GN250 before I left the valley and the second: to review my riding interest after 18months or 25,000km which ever comes first.

Well it is now 15 months and 23,500km travelled, time to reflect and to look ahead.

So there you have it, where and what I do after I sell the VStrom is open at the moment, I may buy another bike in spring time, or I may walk the fairways at the golf club, or I just may do both.

Heads Up and Enjoy - PM me if you want to view the bike.

To show that this bike is a stunner... I'll add my 2c. (and a pic)

No I haven't ridden it (that add's to the fact that it's in good nick) but from what I know of the owner and his riding habits, you'd be hard pressed to find a bike as well maintained. Good luck for the sale Guy.

BuckBuckNo1 - You also had another challenge, which you haven't completed yet.

The tour on a motorbike around the South Island and then the North Island.

When are you going to do that challenge mate?

Good luck thou in the sale of your bike..... I am sure it will go to someone who will look after it like you did.

I rode the WMCC demo version of this bike (identical to BBNO's) and can vouch for the fact that it's an excellent bike.

Should be a good buy for someone.

Wow Guy. I hope you do ride again. Otherwise you'll be missed. You have contributed so much in the time I've known you. Good luck with the sale mate.

As Col said, you will never find a bike as well maintained as this

I still don't get it, you say "I would like to go on more frequent long rides" but without the bike you can't do that so why are you giving up? Is it the back?

Me, I'm not good at selling anything.

Thanks Col, appreciate that. My bike was blessed with your presence.

Crashe, I honestly thought that if you asked me last year where will you ride before 25,000km, then for sure either a North and/or South Island tour would have been expected as a reply. Like I said , I am going to take some time out now and dwell on things for a while. Thanks for your comments and your assistance through the last 15 months, you have been very supportive, not only to me, but also to new riders, thanks.

Thanks riffer for your comments, and the time we spent practising up at Trentham last summer. Appreciate it.

Thanks phoenixgtr, I enjoyed the rides out on Wednesday night over to the Tin Hutt and also the Sandbar. Appreciate your comments.

Thanks Merv, I can understand where you are coming from, however as I have said: I set a personal goal to review my riding within 18mths or 25,000km, that time is here now, and so I will take some time out. Enjoyed the Alfredton ride with you and the group.

G'day ZeroIndex, best rest assured the compliance plate is out of the factory 1/07.

G'day quallman, thanks for your comment. I enjoyed the time up at Trentham carpark when you wanted some riding assistance, remember to periodically review all those slow bike control routines we practised.

Heads Up and Enjoy - PM me if you want to view the bike.

It has been a busy week [and quietly a busy 5 weeks] for me, riding this and riding that, and the chances come spring and summer, I will devote my time between driving down the fairway and riding over the hill. I just don't think I can walk away from riding just yet.

The VStrom is a great bike, and I would like to see it sell at auction.

PM me. or call/text to 027-304-6450 if you would like to view the bike.

Heads Up and Enjoy

Shame to see you sell a great bike, hope you enjoy what you change to.

I personally would let it sit in the garage 3 months before selling as it is such a versatile bike. Perhaps you should try some adventure rides and let it show you it`s class.

Regardless, if I was in NZ that bike would be mine. Tomorrow. I am looking for something to bash, thrash and test my riding skills and think the VStrom is it (for a little road, little dirt, no need to prove myself around the twisties). The VStromīs gradually taking it`s place as a true Round The World tourer, perhaps with exception of the exhaust location.

If you don`t know where you want to go with the riding you may be selling the best option to sample a little of everything. Or hell borrow a 200 dirt bike and see if you enjoy that.
Just a shame to see a fellow recent rider selling exactly the bike I want! Still, must make our decisions for ourselves right?

Shame to see you sell a great bike, hope you enjoy what you change to.

Starting out in May 2006 riding, and 24,000km later, I have discovered riding enjoyment. As well as meeting some wonderfully good people here in our kiwibiker community. The whole process of learning new skills and being an active participant on the site, is personally satisfying and rewarding. In some respects the bike itself has been secondary dare I say it.

Time for a ZX14 then?

Looking ahead to spring and summer and me on a ZX14, yeah right, as they say. I will be quietly taking my time choosing my next bike.
