very nice ride dude, looks awesome, pipes really set it off. How are the handlebars? Do your arms get stiff over long rides or is something to get used to?

yep thanx guys, just to answer a few questions...cleaning the bike takes about 20 mins to half an hour with abit of mr sheen depending on how dirty, uaually give it a quick rub after i put it away get some road grime off mainly bugs and crapp on the mirrors and front fork tins only takes ten minutes...the chubby apes are to me very comfortable compared to the standard bars as i'm 6ft 2 i was getting a sore ass, sore back, sore knees...since the changes all the pain has gone, ride for 3 hours no dramas, the bars are about level with my shoulders so i dont look like a starfish, with the air cleaner and race tuner it pulls very well to 180k with the occasional cross wind wobble scaring the living beejeezus at of ya,on occasion i ride with a few kiwis here in perth in the weekends with an array of bikes,R1s,1700 warriors,TRX850,triumphrocket3's,speedmasters,M109 s,1900 honda thingy, and the rest harleys, the fatty keeps up with them all, stay safe

agreed the pipes look good, I like the way they face downwards

Those pipes look mean! I was tossing up between the radials and V&H bigshots, the only reason the shots got the nod was the way they seem to match the Wideglide, but thats personal opinion of course.

Does the passenger seat kind of pop on and off coz its missing from that pic and I hope your chick doesn't just sit on the mudguard, but then I notice it appears in the earlier pics?

Nice,

What I've never been able to work out is how do you keep them so clean & shiny???

Because they don't actually ride them very much, silly!

How do you find those solid wheels? I know most of the weight is kept low, but do cross-winds bother you much? Seems like a worry to me, but then again my bike weighs about as much as one of your pipes (which, incidentally, look hawt).

Noice. One day I'll own a cruiser. Put clip-ons, rear-sets and a single seat on it

The bike is 10 months old and has 24000kms on it and still looks like it has just come outta the box...the cross winds haven really bothered me i do ride with ricers and they have been blown around more than i have...bike weighs approx 350kg wet plus me 105 kg thats close to half a ton that might have something to do with not getting hammered by the winds...still having a ball,12 weeks til the new ride arrives cant wait...have a happy new year and stay safe

Steady on laughing boy - Ridden one have ya?
I've just tested the 08.
I'd describe the steering as responsive.
Countersteering it around a manhole cover or pothole is tre easy.

As long as it has chrome!!

You and Kram will have some mighty fine examples of American iron in CKMC :P

Dang... I'm jealous.

Oh chrome..... ummm... there is less there now than on the old bike. Hope you guys like black.

lol... and you have done up your bike as well i understand?

Oh and here is the kicker... Bike is almost ready and waiting and now they have diagnosed a torn tendon in my shoulder. Looks like i will be going back for another operation. last one (same issue) had me unable to drive for 2 months and ride for at least 3. I am not a happy camper.

The Lone Rider
15th July 2008, 13:20
But you will still at least make it to the CKMC birthday bash right!?

I'm doing my bike in matte black, with a high gloss red candy stripe down the middle and a custom tank logo. But thats like when win the lotto or get my inheritience or have the heart to sell off my guitars.

Just been fiddling with the speedo - custom guages now bohahahaa.. it looks ok at best.

I wish I could afford a brand spanking new bike.. second hand bikes I just want to cry when I see whats been worn out... just had to order a new speedo cable today :(

Heres the gauges

http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1647942&postcount=3

And I'm going to attempt to mill my own custom grips and then chrome them

chubby
15th July 2008, 14:21
cool, they look great. Well you have a plan and thats a start. just a matter of working on it eh.

New bikes are new for a very short period of time and that look disappears quickly without maintenance. Don't down that bike of yours. Its a nice bike and its yours. Sorry i haven't been at the rides, as you know i have been a little ummm preoccupied.

Haha, I was wondering how you'd fair with those mini apes when you posted this thread up awhile ago.

I aped my curved bars for awhile - until one of the guys in my club who has a GN pasted me on a uphill turn. I knew then my bars were too high for me to control it how I wanted to ride my bike :D

man that sounds mean. So you've done the stage 2 then, I have the stage one only (aircleaner, pipes)? Bars are always a talking point. I dropped the chubby standard bars and went to T bars with an 8 inch built in riser. On the new bike they are going to be low and a little wider. I went with V&H 2 -1 pipes. I think it gives a good low rumble. Lone rider doesn't like my 2-1 but hey thats why we are all different and he is entitled to his opinion. He also complains that big apes lets GN's pass him on hills, GN's pass him on the flat too. (j/k)

It'd be great to see your bike throughout the changes. Ok, I am a sucker for variation and change.

as long as harleys can't pass me I'm good :P

I'm a sucker for straight shots, drag pipes (some of them), and classics.
