Does anyone have a good place in Wellington that will fit, dyno and map a power commander for my GSR600?

I'm in Kapiti so anywhere in the general area is cool.

wellington motorcycles

the have a tekatune, which means you don't have to fork out for a pc3, since they can reprogram the suzuki stock ecu

Sweet! Will give them a bell tomorrow. I had thought about the tekatune but liked the idea that I could take the PC off if I sell the bike...that said, I dont think I can use the PC on another bike anyway, and I cant imagine anyone would prefer to ride it stock with its current fuel switching.

Cheers

The guys at Wellington MC sound good after giving them a bell today. The said the dyno and tekatune will be aorund $700. For those that have done this, does this sound about the right price?

yeah sounds about right.

pc3 is like US$300, normally around $500 mark here, and i was quoted about $400-$500 to dyno my 600 locally.

so $700 sounds good price. just make sure you have done ALL the mods you are planning on doing eg pipes, filter etc etc, before you get it tuned, since you don't want to spend the money getting it tuned again after adding some fruit

Thats the kicker. I'd love to have a set of scorpions on it, filter, and a decat pipe...but cant afford it before needing the tune done.

Problem with the GSR is it has kick arse fuel switching...almost breaks my back filtering through traffic and I am wanting to rid myself of this. Worst case scenario with the switching is getting into a low gear, getting half way around a slow tight turn and rolling the throttle on to get an almighty punch from the fuel switching back on.

So really, the remap and tune is to rid the bike of this little trait. Other than that I am happy with power/noise n shite so probably no worries there. Might get the filter done while its in though.

Cheers for the effort Cajun

don't bother about air filter, on the really.

Do the pipes, or decat the stock ones (should be able to get it done pretty cheap) then get a tune,

Funny you say that. As I read this I was looking up decat pipes. New cans is out of my league at the mo tho. A bit shite, but the under tail f'er is a pricey little number to replace at around 1k.

Cans would be nice, but like I said, the main thing is just to rid myself of the fuel switching to add confidence in the tight corners

Try contacting Neptune or Cycle Works to see what they can do for you as far as pipes go.

Having actually worked there and seen the amount they can do with that Dynamometer and the TEKA tool, you'd be quite frankly mental to have your Suzuki tuned anywhere else.

Ask Jimbo600 what he reckons, or The Tazman, or Busa Jim.

I've dropped cycle works and neptune an email so will see what they come back with. Honestly though man, I dont know how much a decat is but I reckon I'm already looking at around 1k spend...I've a shit show in hosing another 7 hundy-1k on cans....but it would be nice to open its throat a bit....aH FARK NOOOOOOOOOO!

Yep I can honestly say do the TEKA tune thing at Welly MC's
I had a K3 750 fettled with the TEKA and it blew away a fireblade at the Motomart dyno day. The power graph looked like some dude drew it with a pen and straight edge. Not a dip anywhere. Had the K5 600 done too. Very highty recommended.

Plus while you're getting in done ol' crasherfromwayback can yarn ya legs off about his trip to the US and show off his nice tan.......and it is a very nice tan by the way.

I was in a somewhat similar situation not long after I bought my Hornet, the qualified advice said getting a PC and the dyno work done would be better than any set of cans.

What you are looking at seems a similar arrangement. Cans are normally only about aesthetics anyway with very little improvement in horsepower and sometimes actually a decrease.

This time I did it differently, but the pipes just sort of fell out of the sky...

Have you done this on your K6?

I am thinking about doing something with my exhaust and a tune at some stage.

No. He left that to me on my K3 600. Using a seven fiddy for such a task is just plain cheating.

I sure got mine at Manfeild though...........

You get used to it.

But see how much to decat the can i would guess should only be a couple hundred.

No not yet. In the pipeline though

Guess it comes down to increase from the cans. I'm ok with the current noise and grunt, so really I think just a decat will do, simply cos I hat being forced to comply with bullshit atmospheric shite....hence the o2 sensor being disabled about a week after purchase and the homemade TRD being fitted.

well don't bother doing the cat then, if you happy with noise/grunt

its waste of time & money other wise.
