Did I hear right this morning?

Ethanol mix fuel to be sold at the pump by the end of August?

Aparently you should check with your dealer as to weather your car is equipped to run on it.

Anyone got the cold hard facts on this?

Ethanol eats carbys as it suckes water from the air if you leave it sitting.

They had it in the USA in the 80's - caused no end of problems (Gasahol the called it) with fuel systems etc.
People avoided it like the plague.

Never noticed if they still advertised it last time I was there, probably don't sell it anymore but good 'ol NZ has to fall down the same set of stairs 20+ years later - just as it does with most of the worlds dumber ideas.

Seems that corn based ethanol is not all it's cracked up to be.

A number of recent studies have attempted to assess the total carbon footprint – from the field to the tailpipe – of the biofuel. Conclusions vary widely from being worse than gasoline to being about the same."

this shouldnt be bothering us bikers.... $2 give or take meh. Now if u own a cage...well that a different story alltogether.... i still only run my R6 on 98 unleaded. (and when I cant aford it I dont ride !). :rockon:

YEAH ITS FOR MY CAGE.... ITS AN 83 HONDA CIVIC SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN LOL ONE WAY TO FIND OUT (IF ITS CHEAOER THAN 91!!)

From what I saw on the news its 98 octane replacing regular 95 and is marginally dearer.

Im a long way away from any Gull station so its not an option for me but even if it was Id be avoiding it.

I reckon it would be good to run a tankful through your bike every once in a while since the ethanol will absorb any water that might have accumulated in you fuel system. I think it would cause the bike to run ever so slightly leaner because alcohols burn better with smaller air fuel ratio than petrol.
