My apologies to anyone stuck at work who reads this and hates me. But if you were single, no mortgage and no children what would you do on a day like this?? thats a rhetorical question :apint:

I hate you too.
At least I got some mad filtering jollies this morning.
It's a good thing no responsible motorcyclists, particularly KBers, were in the area. Their opinion of my sanity might have dropped

At least I got some mad filtering jollies this morning.Does that do it for you?
Strangely, I should have been rejoicing in the fine, sunny weather, and having a ball, but it was all a bit flat.
Unlike Monday, where I had an absolute blast going to work.
Badlieutenant's got the right idea though, I reckon, given the scarcity of dry days lately (and in future short-term forecasts).

If I do that everyone rings me and asks where i am.... hate having the bloody keys!
and on the odd time the boss actually arrives at work before I do, HE rings me up and asks where I am...
dont even start me on what the mrs would do if I said I wasnt going to work.. :buggerd:

just got back, so thats nearly 9 hours riding. And what a day. Caught myself just staring at the sky and thinking "mint" and "wow". Rest of the time I was finding many lonely lovely corners. Initially went the back way to hamilton and cut thru to go out to raglan which is when i think I got carried away and missed a turn off. What fun:D Anyway was just leaving Ominaia (?????not sure) and thought "bugger me the winds a bit strong here" gave the bike a little flick "oh shit!!back tyre feels nearly flat".
With the day been so mint this didnt even phase me, found the local garage and asked the girl at the counter if she had a tyre pando. I know they wreak your tyres but I was just gona use it to get to hamiltron and replace the stuffed one, anyway she didnt know what I was talking about but did say "try the garage round the back". So I did. Im not a big porche fan but Im sure if I was then id have made a mess in my pants when I saw this garage. These guys had about 30, maybe more, porches in different states of repair. lots of racing chassis etc. Even I was impressed. 20mins later and 20$ for the repair and im off.
Raglan was going off too. Was there for about 2 hours just watching people surf.
One of those days you dont really want to end and the thought of aucks traffic didnt make me want to leave raglan either, sigh.
oh, and the ironic little twist (every day has one, you just have to look for it)
the puncture was caused by a pasload nailgun nail, and im a builder. Karmah???

That reminds me of a time a few years back when I was coming into the company car park an saw one of the guys off my shift going out.
I thought it was a bit odd an that maybe he'd been called out for a night shift or something.that was until he rang in sick about an hour later.
I was team coordinator at the time and took the call, lucky he was a mate and it was me that picked up the phone,BLOODY BIKIES!!

just me being a dumb arse
should know better from riding old triples
they have the same bad habbits
but a bit less HP

30th September 2004, 22:09
Ive never riden a triple. What are they like power wise? Im assuming its a inline triple ? Im guessing they are linear ? with nice torque ?
**edit* just looked it up on the net. Fuaaar they would have been the shit in their day. Inline triple 2stroke..nice. So ill revise my guess and say bags of torque with tendency to snap out from under you as it decides to scream??

30th September 2004, 22:25
kawasaki h1 500 two stroke triple
bloody good in there day
problem was they were to light on the front wheel
and going from a brit twin they had a habbit of
trying to turn themselfs inside out,
have tuned most of the probs out of mine though
some day you may have to have a go on my one
(no bining though parts are hard to find)
:eek5:
badlieutenant
30th September 2004, 22:37
thatd be awesome man. Id drive it like a nana though. For some strange reason when ever Ive riden someone elses bike I get real nervous and feel quilty. Mind you if Im on your bike then youd better ride my vifer. Same deal though, parts are hard to find :D
and what year is yours? The little bit I read about them says that the last one was detuned to meet new emission laws (restrictive breathing, smaller jets). But it also said it was probably the best handling as most of the issues had been ironed out by that stage.

30th September 2004, 22:55
mine is a c series but i changed the front wheel from a 19inch
to an 18inch and droped the forks up in the clamps
the frame has been braced as well
the E/F series were detuned but had rubber mounted
motors (stops the rocking couple vibs from the crank)
good for a laugh and a stay in hospital

lol
dropping front increased the tendency to snap the back out ? is there much frame flex ?
Madmax
30th September 2004, 23:43
any bike from back then will have flex built in
(bracing helps) the bigest problem is ground
clearence (bloody pipes hit first)
you just have to have a different
mind set!! do not lean the bike just
leave it up and move your body
to move the centre of weight

I gotten so used to the flex on the vfr, coming home when i lived in te atatu (jr will know this corner) and theres a sharp 35km (i think) bend, very shiny. I was aware of it and even then the back just slipped out, the front a little bit too but i was trying to load it up a bit. Casual as i did nothing and waited for the sliding to stop and im sure i could feel the frame flex help bring the bike back in line. Actually when i think about it Im sure I pushed the bike down a bit (motoX style) so that when or if the back did got out I could catch it. wouldnt work at higher speeds as well id imagine
