WOOT!!! Fark what a day!!! Not only did I finally get a new set of wheels (after buying two only to have the deals fall over due to the seller(s) fault). Anyway, took a bus to Auckland yesterday, test rode a RF900R, shat my pants, come back to the dealer & asked for the paper work :innocent:

Took 6 hours in the bus & 3 1/2 to get back. I wont tell you the top speed but needless to say the Ramarama straight was nice and empty

I can honestly say that's the most powerful vehicle (weight to power ratio) ive EVER riden/driven. Fark man, just incredible :gob:

Just so you understand where im coming from, some of you have seen my recent thread showing a heavily smashed up SR250. I knew it would a lot of difference in power, but struth not THAT much lol.

Im so in love with this bike

ps: almost forgot, got medical clearance to work on the rig yesterday WOOT!!!

Bye bye ACC :-)

Shit dude, big step up from a 250.Fark your tellin me!!! lol. In saying that im 35 & have been riding bikes on and off for many years but NEVER anything like this :innocent:

Exercise restraint with the right hand.Im going to be drawing upon the deepest well of restraint since aunty Miggans baked an apple pie & left it on the porch to cool, how can you not touch that pie man!!!

As time progressed this morning/early arvo it was like some hypnotic drug, fark me!!! What a bike!!! lol. Restraint is an easy word to pass ones lips, it's another thing to pass into ones right hand :innocent:

As I approached Te Kuiti (few KM's out) I slowed down a lil to around 120Km'h then around the next corner is a marked highway patrol, I squeeze the front, pull it to around a hundy......no drama, he passes, not an eye lid battered. The less than a half a Km there's another one (luckily hadn't opened it up again)..........then again ANOTHER one half a click down the road!!! Saw 3 in the space of a minute then but none the rest of the day...brilliant!!! :Punk:

Let me know if you want any info about these bikes. I've got a bit.Hit me with what ya got dude. I've done plenty of searches & pulled up all kinds of shiz on the mighty RF900R but of course would be keen to see what you have unearthed from the all knowing wise women that is the internets :msn-wink:

:Punk: Heheh can feel the grin on your face from here :sunny:Is it THAT obvious :innocent:

Shit it's got to be the most fun you can have with ya cloths on (certainly with as many as ya need in winter at least ) That feeling of sitting up behind a car or three with the smallest of gaps, chop it down, blast past them like they are standing still, it's a thang of beaty

Have fun coming to grips with your new ride and do it safely! Will do Gi Joe :niceone:.

I know today ive sounded a lil wreckless today (kid in a candy store maybe :innocent:) but im actually pretty cautious (even more so since the accident). I just don't go outside my comfort zone quickly. For me it's only when I feel ready then I push it a tiny but further each time :innocent:

Big congrats, B J.

RF900's are great bikes, have known and know so many people with them, ay Colapop, Riffer and Bend-It !!!!
Got a good reputation for reliability and still have a good turn of speed for this day and age.

Look after it, service it well, and I'll echo Simon's words, restrain the right hand or you won't be able to ride it, Mr:Police: or hospital-wise !!

When I got back into bikes about 4 years ago, I bought an RF 900.
Now, it had been 30 years since I had owned a bike and I had never owned a big one before. Even so, it was a good call and I had untold fun with it. However, I knew I was faced with a steep learning curve with good potential for killing myself if I was stupid about it.
Consequently, it was some months before I really opened her up and when I did, a hawk flew up in my face. It was some weeks longer before I did it again.
I congratulate you on your purchase. I think you have bought one of the most competent and underrated all round packages, that has been made in the last couple of decades. Excellent value for money as well.
However, as you will discover, your braking distance goes up as the square of your speed.
Can I suggest that you find a quiet straight somewhere and discover how far it does take to stop from higher speeds. I think that you may be amazed and it may alter your riding habits. It did for me.

Nice bike. I like them, they look like the perfect every-day every-purpose bike. Good luck man -- good to hear about the medical clearance as well :yes:Yeah they sure are, ive riden in heavy traffic round Auckland & New Plymouth & of course open road & it's great everywhere, easy as. Just gotta be careful not to drop it at low speed, 203kg :apumpin:

Cheers for that, that medical clearance is just fantastic, it's been a pretty awesome few days :sunny:

Congrats. Lovely bike(s) those RF900s. Just wait until you try something with real HP.:shit:You mean there's more :gob:

After the first test ride that's the first thing I thought of was how fast newer (or race) bikes are, it's almost incomprehensible

Nice upgrade mate, have fun with itCheers mate, don't think it's possible to NOT have fun with this thing

Nice one mate !! VERY jealous!!!I promise to let ya have a ride when im up next :scooter:

Specs here (http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/suzu/suzuki_rf900r%2094.htm)Yeah nice one, cheers for that. That confirms a few things. One is the output. From another spec sheet I saw saying 135BHP max & 118BHP something a rather. So it is actually 120BHP at the wheel, that certainly explains it. A mate was trying to tell me it would be under 100BHP and I was like "na man, that feels like at LEAST 8 Bajillion to me" he he

I like my RF. It's a good bike.

I rode a late model ('06) FZR1000 last weekend... and a ('07) Bandit 1250... They're not RF's... and they both went rather well. Enjoy the beast you have - it will serve you well, young Jedi.

A hawk!!!! Struth thats unlucky!!! Were u ok? What about the hawk?

We missed - just!
It was my first experience with the "pucker factor"

It taught me: -
1. That my arsehole can amazingly quickly develop a huge attraction for the seat and
2. Look further ahead, especially at speed and
3. Keep your speed at a level that does not exceed the visible distance ahead and
4. It's bloody hard to dodge a hawk cos you don't know which way the buggers will go

Boob--word of warning. When you're on the open road watch the speedo fairly regularly. The RF has a nasty habit of "settling" at about 125-130km/h
It feels more like 100
Ohh and DON'T be tempted to fit a wider rear tyre--the 170 is the best tyre size for the bike
