I see there is a list of emergency contacts from within the Kiwibiker community (Spankme - farken brilliant idea) and it got me thinking about a possible business directory from within the community too.

e.g. If I need new bike bit, I must admit I'm inclined to go see Lou at AMPS simply because I know the guy and he takes the piss out of me from time to time. What better reason?

Likewise I know there will be people out there selling cars (Frosty), Computer stuff, phones etc ect etc.

If we can support the local community I think we should - problem is I have no idea what's available.

Your thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea. Would be more useful for those in the major cities though.

I dunno about that. There's that chap in ??? The Econohonda guy, I've bought stuff off him via my c/c and there's always internet banking or money orders or bank cheques etc, etc.

This thread has been done before - called "what do you do for a job"
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=2916&page=1&pp=20

Someone could collate that info if they have time, similar to the emergency help spreadsheet I put together....

That was the thought - formalise it and make that info available to all on this site. I'll ping Spankme and see if he'd be ok with that being put onto the site, and in the meantime I'll also put together that spreadsheet.

It's a busy time of year for me at the moment (end of sales quarter) so give it a week or so...

Cool - I was thinking about doing it back when I did the help spreadsheet, but it was too big a job at the time...and it hasnt become any less busy since then

Anyone here available for ad hoc contract network engineer work in Wellington, Napier or Christchurch? Windows desktop support, TCP/IP (esp. WAN and LPR printing) experience a must.

hmmm...

That sounds like a 'situations vacant' ad.

Anyway, if you fit the criteria, drop me a PM.

Maybe a page on the website (not the forum) with people who want there business advertised on it. Even if every member got to put a little classified ad on there for selling personal goods

The page could be

"Kb community business and for sale"

Then have two links
"Kb business" and "for sale/ wanted"

That way every one can post in one area what they have for sale, and what there business is with out making more threads upon threads about stuff, This would pretty much replace the "online trading" forum, I think it would be a good idea.

Business could link to there website and write a short advert on what products/ services they can do. (Not their website just a little ad)

Deals could be done through PM Etc

This is mainly because the bikes for sale bit kind of sucks...
