Concours in Whakatane

Got to have a sit on it the other day at Underwood and Wilkens, though did not ask about a test ride as I am not in the market at the moment.
My thoughts for what they are worth: Well compared to my old mothership that I ride.

I was surprised first of all by how light it was:gob:
Then how small it actually felt, possibly due to the slightly agressive forward stance one takes up while riding. It looks smaller in the flesh than in the pixs possibly due to me being a bigger size than most.

The poximity start took a bit for the sales rep to get going, but one going the motor was sweet no vibration and quiet.

The info on the dash would be very handy, tyre pressure, distance travelled, fuel left that sort of thing.

For me I was a bit dissapointed by my expectations of the bike compared to the real thing. Still to be fair I have not ridden it to see how comfortable it really is, and to be able to go like a cut cat is not where I am at in life at this moment. For someone coming from a sports bike to touring would find this piece of kit absolute magic. Horses for courses I guess.

Kawasaki is well-prepared for these things breaking down. I was extremely intrigued at the prominence and ease of functionality given to the hazard lights switch. What's that all about?

I bought a Concours two weeks ago. Upgraded from an SV1000S. Have to say that I absolutely love it. It does handle very well for a big bike and I figure I'm going to have almost as mush fun as the sports bikes on the twisties. I know it'll be a damn site better / more comfortable on the straights.

Two things I'm likely to change though:

One - the screen is a tad too short for me when its in the upright postion. I've 6 ft and it needs to be another 3 inches or so taller to get the wind over my helmet properly. 5'9" riders will be fine I suspect.

Two - the can has to go - look at the size of it!

My other half likes the pillion riding postion too and we are looking forward to getting on some long rides to se how our bums like the seats! Not a cheap bike but good value for what you get I think. Will be keeping this one for a long time.

I have the same trouble with the screen, i did see on an FJR on the week end a screen with a curl out at the top which would deflect the wind a little higher
I felt the same about the can or cigar as some call it but it is starting to grow on me, ill probably change it though. The tyre sensor works well, gave me lots of warning before the rear tyre was too soft to ride on A piece of box cutter blade was stuck in the tyre. Bugger
I am also going to get some colour put on it cause they all look the same Silver

Sounds familiar... That would be the Givi. It's still not perfect though. I plan to try a Rifle next.

find i have the same problem on my 05 fjr, the windscreen is about 3in to short, the 07 fjr was suposed to have a bigger screen on it. we put my bike with screen up and the 07 side by side and mesured them from the ground to the top of the wind screen. they were the same mesurement. the screen on the 07 is longer but it is angled lower towards the rider, took the 07 for a ride it made no differance. longer windscreen on 06 or earler would make a differance i think but not sure about the 07.

I have read on a couple of review sites that Kawasaki have an optional screen that is available which is larger. Although I get the impression its bigger over all as well as higher which may not be what I'm after. Have yet to see any photos.

Re the 'cigar' or the 'jet engine' as my mates describe it to me, I've only seen a replacement can made by Two Brothers. Again, until I see one in the flesh and see what Yoshimura have on offer, I may hold off a bit before purchasing a replacement. (Although the American exchange rate is pretty good at the moment...I'm getting tempted.)

Rifle are already advertising their replacement screen for the Concours. Complete with Rifle shimming block.
