Seriously, I know it's been cold and stuff, but where are you all hiding? I'm riding in from out past Rangiora every morning between 7:30 and 8:30, and there's only one other regular rider!
Incidentally, if you're the bloke who rides out to Rangiora/Kaiapoi along Hills Road - Marshlands Road each day, come rain or shine, on the white bike with red and blue detailing, good on ya.
That said, the warmer days are bringing people out of the woodwork, but it's sure been one lonely winter. :(

I hope your winter has been dryer than our summer here in the UK. Noah, hurry up with that bloody Ark, man!

Well i ride my bike every day no matter what the weather - even if we get snow.I dont usually see any bikes on the road at 5am when im off to worrk but see quite a few on the ride home at 2pm.The weather has been pretty mild this winter. So i dont know where all the softcock bikers are -they use there cages or work different hours, but as you say as the warmer days come about there will be more coming out of the woodwork.I used to come in from Waikuku daily on the bike - as it was cheaper and quicker than by cage.

I've been on the road on my bike every day but one this winter. (Monday this past week when it absolutely hosed down and was supposed to all day)

Where are you guys riding to/from out of curiosity? I work down from Durham St, and when I was walking along it to pick up my wife's car from the mechanic the other day, I saw about eight bikes travelling along Durham towards Brougham, so it may be I'm coming the wrong way.
It'd certainly help the ol' congestion if more people in Goon rode in.

I ride from Casebrook across town to Opawa Road/Garlands road where the big stacks spew steam out in to the air, I have a 15km ride each way.I try to keep off the main roads as to congested - the back roads give me less lights to stop at and give me a quicker ride time.

I'm waiting for parts for my laid up bike. As soon as they arrive it'll be a day off work swinging on a socket set, then what comes after that doesnt take much imagination.

Bit of a bugger arriving late at work because you ended up in Haast while becoming distracted somewhere between home and work in Christchurch.
And don't ask me how I know this... !

It almost sounds like a mission to get on your bikes... helmet, keys, bike.. LETS GO!
not that at all, more like get on bike and almost immediately get off cos I'm there already... rather get on and stay on till I wanna get off ;)
and besides the pushying is good for me too

Something to do with having lives outside of motorcycling. I for instance work Monday/Friday and Mrs Oakie works Sunday/Thursday. This gives us Saturday as the only day we get to do stuff together ... so sorry, you guys are generally going to loose out to the joys of doing stuff with my wife. HOWEVER, we are tentatively planning to do the Kaikoura trip and I think will probably join in a few rides now that Mrs Oakie's bike is going reliably so as we meet a few of you we'll probably start to get along to a few gatherings together in the future.

I ride St Albans to Uni every day... I have only nicked my flatmates car twice when the bike was out of action for a couple of days. Probably ridden every day bar 3 or 4. Generally don't take the old girl out in snow though, i just don't have the balls for it.

You same as me sister :first: Except I don't ride my pushie in the rain, hate getting wet on a pushie.
Currently I see only 3-4 bikes, soon there will be 6-8 bikes as summer approaches. Note: These figures exclude scooters.

unless it is absolutely bucketing down I still ride... put on my overtrou and wets and off I go. I do like my new top from Ground effect, has a cool hood that stops all those chills down the neck. Bloody cool this morning, did I mention that I am riding at 5.30am?
