Do you reckon KB is in need of a smiley for your sarcastic comments, post, etc?

Is there one already? If there is farked if I can find it, prolly would help if I looked I guess..... :zzzz:

I know sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.... but  I know no other way!

nothing wrong with alittle sarcasm just as long as it doesnt offend anyone i guess

Dunno about the sarcastic smiley but I'd love to see that bitchslap smiley that someone tried to get on here ages ago.

A smiley for sarcasm is well down the list of smiley preferences, surely?

I think that the most pressing need is a smiley for idiocy.

And a smiley for "I can't think of anything meaningful to write and I can't be fagged posting in LOTPIHGAD," may be useful for some.

Not to mention a smiley for "I'm so sad and my life is so pitiful could somebody please feel sorry for me and, preferably, give me some green rep?"

It is a sad world when the only way people think they are communicating is through smilies and "TXT".

I saw the title... and I could hear Hitcher approaching!

If you use your imagination... you can find a smiley for anything... there are plenty as it is!

 <= I use this one for sarcasm
:kick: <= Bitch slap... allright kick...

yeah well, I think I fall under the I dont care group.

I think it would be the most over-used icon on KB. It would almost be redundant.

How about the tomato dodging one? That sort of fits the bill?

I think it was James Kirke Paulding or some wise Chinese sage who first said;

"A picture (or in our case a smilie) is worth a thousand words".

p.s. when are you shutting down that thread anyway? Surely it is a waste of useful megabytes.

I like to think that it has a similar effect to those blue lights in butchers' shops, keeping the flies off the displayed meat. Unfortunately, like the blue light, it isn't totally effective in keeping infantile attention seekers completely away from and out of the main threads. I do have a can of flit, just in case, but have been warned against excessive use...

Ah yes, but did Hitcher's smilies add to the communique? I'd place even money that they were trenchant in the extreme, every time.

Some people use them like freaking wallpaper.

184 in over 11,000 posts? Pretty minimal usgae stats I'd say.

Some people have more smilies posted than actual posts. That's sad.

That's 'lol', which we have a smilie for but it isn't as well established as the actual acronym

No but there might be a smile. A simile committing suicide is always a depressing spectacle.

Yes, sure...a smiley for sarcasm! A bit lazy, isn't it?

And what next? An icon of president Bush for supreme representation of major idiocy?

well, that one would actually get my vote.

Magnificent in its abysmal aptitude...

I think Hitcher was being sarcastic.

I have given this topic some thought and have come to the conclusion that a smiley for sarcasm is not such a great idea. The reason being there is a huge well of humour to be derived from a sarcastic comment when another reader takes it seriously.

It's a bit like those [LAUGH], [APPLAUD] signs we see shown to studio audiences.

Sarcasm smileys should be banned.

Oh, there is much to be learnt from Hitcher in regards to sarcasm, hence my post.

and yes, I agree...a smiley for sarcasm would defeat the point of expressing ourselves in such a way that the tone of it is not to be misunderstood. That is one of the beauties of playing with a language: double entenders, word play, sarcasm...all are very stimulating and entertaining mind expanding capacities that need to be finely tuned with use of words, not smiley little pictures.
