Time for a ride, sandpit it looking like the only option??? Was keen kimmies, but it may be too wet?!~?!?!?!?!?

Yeah Kimmies will be wet alright, not sure if it will even be open with all the rain.
Might be heading up to Woodhill early Saturday morning and try to beat the crowds. Don't think there is much else on unfortunatley.

Trailblazer is on in Taupo, but its on the North side of the highway and not very demanding. If it had been on the South side which is more fun a mate and myself would have been keen to head down Friday, ride Digger McKewn and then the Trailblazer.

Couldn't believe how many people were at the bike park last sunday. Ive never seen it that busy before, and the MX track isn't even finished yet...

So when is the MX track gonna be finished?
Are they gonna make the jumps out of clay to make it easier to
maintain and groom?

Danger

Currently the jumps are sand.

So you can ride the unfinished track at the moment?

So you can ride the unfinished track at the moment?

Yep, Fill your boots. We widened it to allow for multiple passing. 100% better than last week. Remember its a work in progress and the bulldozer has not been round to add jumps etc. More Moto x riders on it the better the corners will develope.
Saturdays are great for riding, less people and fresh tracks.

Cant wait t'ill you get the jumps sorted should be good.
About time something like this happened for ppl like me that live on
the shore and like to ride MX.

Go up the convict trail and take the right hand option.

ok so it looks like the choices are!

1/ Club ride at Rodney MCC, Leightons Farm
2/ Ironman at Ardmore
3/ Trailblazer at Taupo
4/ Woodhill anytime.

I think a mate of mine may be wishing to go to the Rodney Club day if I go anywhere at all.

Dead Toad next weekend I think.

are there marshals or wardens or anything on this mx track? sounds like trouble!

chop
9th August 2007, 20:13
There are wardens at the bike park and some roaming wardens but no flag marshalls. I have ridden the track and the guys have put in some really good work and will be very ridable for all levels. Being a sand track it will be constantly changing as the day goes on.

Looking at the map on the sandpit website it looks like the MX track is
right next to the car park, is this correct?
Mates went up on the weekend and said that they couldn't find it.
Can anybody confirm this?

Danger

Its next to the new carpark that is being constructed, up by the east side of the convict trail. If your riding the convict trail the MX track is up the right side option. If you take the left side option you can see the new carpark just before you hit that section with the small sandy climb with the deep rut at the top.
